Miami in the rain, NCST on Thursday night.

    FSU loses 1st quarter 10-0, wins 2-4 26 to 7.

Come from behind, on the road, loud crowd. Noles win.

Even after that long NCST touchdown, I wasn't worried at all. I was surprisingly calm. Jimbo's calling, Trickett's Oline coaching, and Ponder's toughness would prevail, and I knew it.

IMO, the team got more out of this type of victory than they would have if we'd blown them out. First time they've trailed and had to come back and win. First time against a D1 team that Ponder won a game with his arm.

So happy. Agree, JMG. Lost the first quarter but overcame adversity and won the next three. Effort. Effort. Effort. Way to go, NOLES!

You left out something. When NC State went up in the 2nd half and we had the ball, it started raining. Thurs. night, on the road, in the rain and drove for the win.

    It's all about T.E.D.

FSU lacked all three for much of this decade. They're getting there now.

This game means so much to me because for the first time since JF came here, my husband told me I should be proud of the way we played. I am the Alumni, he married in... he can be so critical... but I was in class tonight, finishing up my masters degree and I only saw the 2nd half. He was so complementary of the way the game was coached and executed. He is very hard on my noles. That means alot to me.

This win was big, plain and simple.

On the road, early adversity, halftime adjustments, and a convincing finish.

I'm stoked about the rest of the year.

    Toughness. Effort. Discipline.

    Jimbo's mantra.

They're not there, but they're closer than they've been in a long, long time.

    Hey Ira,

Do you think Jimbo called his best game since he has been here? He made very few bad play calls tonight.

Very well called, with the exception of the two obvious blunders. Not knowing the correct number of timeouts before halftime likely cost them a touchdown. Someone blew that.

Then calling for a pass on third down before Gano's 53-yard fg. I know Jimbo prefers to be aggressive in those situations, but that was asking for trouble.

Other than that, I loved most everything. My favorite call was the fake reverse that Christian kept for a first down on 2nd-and-11. And how about Easterling making another HUGE catch on third-and-forever. Just like against Miami.

And it seemed like as the game went on, and Christian got his sea legs, he started really stepping into some throws.

I'm really starting to like this club.

Obviously not Ira, but I was completely impressed and satisfied with the play calling... excellent job of mixing it up... and alternating series to set up the run with the pass and vice-versa...

That fake reverse was also my favorite call of the night. Worked perfectly.

I love that teams have not figured out how to stop the bubble screens yet.

our guys are playing half to half. When we put together one solid game of disciplined football.....the other team will waive a white flag in the 3rd quarter.

WE CAN BE THE TEAM THAT CUTS the lights out before half time. It's up to our guys to pull it altogether and show that we are capable of very good things. Next game is our time to shine!!!

I would still love to see us stretch the field more. Outside of the Parker drop (in Triple coverage might I add, but still a great throw)we have not thrown down the middle of the field for success. I know (and every team out there knows) that we have big guys on the outside, who can be potential game changers but have yet to prove so. I really just want to see a pump to the outside deep streak, then come back over the middle to a deep post route. Is that too much to ask? I know the team has seen a lot of 2 deep, but I saw that route open more often than not in tonights game. Once we start opening the middle of the field, I think we'll see a lot more big plays from our outside WR's. JMO

The Oline seems to get stronger as the games go on, or at least has more stamina than the opposition.

Ponder still does 8-9 step drops, 2nd half was much better though.

I love how Ponder runs with the ball!

    Antone is ballin.

I was scared at 13-17, then the Noles showed heart and the will to win.

It was like the old days tonight. Not playing their best but pulling out the W.

I just can't help to notice the shots of the huddle and how focused the eyes are on CP when in the huddle. I'm not saying we are there yet but I'm gonna enjoy the ride of us growing to get there!!

Best part is you know Jimbo is setting the pump fake Bub screen to one side, only to throw to the fly or post on the other side one of these games! I'm just happy for our boys

I can't wait to get back to the states and scream til I'm hoarse again. I was getting email updates from a couple buddies between the hours of 2 and 5 am local time. The pain of missing out on a Nole game was excruciating. I love this team.

I officially have a 1 game winning streak!!!!!!!

2 quick notes, I dunno who handles keeping track of our Timeouts, but standing there watching Fisher's reaction when he found out we didn't have any left was pretty funny (in our defense the scoreboard showed us with one more than we had, but still soemone should be keeping track of that stuff).

I was down near where tht ball went into the endzone for Surrency, not only did he lose it, the DB lost it, I lost it, and most of the crowd lost it....it was a misting type rain and the ball hung right in those lights in fact I didn't see it till it hit the ground.

Our sideline is like night and day from last year when I was there, and can someone please tell me about the exchanges between Bobby and Erin Andrews, she was smiling and laughing and going on about how great he is to interview.

    Two lesser [but important] demons.

    1. Because of offensive TOP our defense had energy left to stop last drives of home team.

    2. FG can be expected not hoped for.

Best play of the night, when Ponder converted on that 3rd and long, stepped up in the pocket and zipped that strike in there for like a 20 yd gain.

Out of here, shout at you all later.

I love that we are beginning to see the extensions of Jimbo's playbook. He really has a knack for setting up the defense with a play, and then hitting them where they didn't expect.

Also, I love it when Bert Reed gets the ball. That guy goes 0-60 faster than a Ferrari.

Loved the frustrated looks on the NCSU coaching staff when we had the ball. I also have to give props to NCSU...they came out to play and I'm really proud of how well our guys stepped up to win this game.

I have to agree with everyone here. It appears that we are finally starting to turn the corner. It's great to see that our offense can get the big TD instead of relying on the defense or special teams (IE Willie Reid). Ponder is not the flashiest guy out there, but he makes smart decisions and is executing. I was proud that our Noles didn't quit after the surprising 10-0 deficit. Like someone posted before, I wasn't even fazed after the big 62 yard TD pass that put us down 17-13 early in the 4th. I knew that Ponder and the boys would make plays down the stretch. As long as we stay focused and healthy, I believe that we have the beginnings of a good football team.

How many 3rd and longs have we converted this season?

That has to be a great feeling to know that you can pick up a first down in practically any situation.

Letus not forget how the defense regrouped after the first two drives by NC State. Ten points in the first quarter, seven in the next three. Myron Rolle played really well.

Our 3rd down conversions are so much better this year, it's not even close. Remember 3rd down in the past? Our punter's quads would cramp up by the 4th quarter.

I was not a happy guy during the first half. It reminded me of Charlottesville a few years ago with the continuous one-sided holding penalties. I don't mind them calling it, just be fair about it, that was not happening. Bobby (God bess him) had every right to confront the official the way he did at half. I LOVED that! And as others have already pointed out, a completely different officiating scenario in the second half. There were even a couple that should have been called (cough! preston parker cough!)later in the game.

It was a good win in a hostile place. I really felt we would dominate, but I think I really underestimated the home NC State crowd. They are not your typical ACC fans(at least when they play us). I also feel that our teams in the recent past would have laid down and died. Now we just need to get better and keep this thing moving in the right direction.
