Anybody ever worked with "Poly-shades" from MinWax?

I've got some natural wood chairs (pine I think) already coated with varnish or something like that. I would like to darken them a bit to match an oak table I just got. And obviously I want to avoid stripping the existing coat completely off if possible.

Minwax's site says their product Polyshades is just the thing I need.... any experience?

Make sure you still lightly sand the existing finish so the poly will adhere. I would also use mineral spirits to make sure it is really clean beforehand.
Polyshades is a decent product for initial finishes but know that it probably will not be super durable when applied over an existing finish.
