I believe the AT&T/Directv acquisition was approved last week, I'm curious to see how that will impact customer service.

I was auto-billed this past month for Sunday ticket - an additional $41.99 (6 installments) for the base package. All in Sunday ticket = $252, Max = $354.

I called in to see if they could do better, last year I had Sunday ticket Max for $225. They offered me $54 off, 6 monthly credits of $9. No dice, I advised I still wanted to cancel and they didn't counter.

I'm expecting the deal to be better closer to the season.

Anyone else out there work a deal?

I called and scheduled the cancellation for July 31st. I waited a few days and sent an email through their website stating that I was scheduled to leave DTV and said FIOS has offered me a bunch of crap. They gave me a pin to use to speak to a dedicated retention specialist.

I reduced my bill by $48 per month and got NFL Sunday Ticket and all the crap that goes along with it for free and I still believe I left money on the table.

I got an email notification saying Sunday Ticket was about to renew. I got it free last go round with DirecTV and I called up to cancel it without even trying to negotiate a better deal. Sunday Ticket is nice but my wife and I don't care about the NFL enough to keep it. The college football package would be more enticing to me but they never run any promos on it.

As someone who had DirecTV for almost 20 years until last year I can tell you they are tracking what freebies you have been given in the past much closer now and are much more willing to let customers walk over the "bluff move" than they used too...heard from people that still have it that the standard DirecTV Protocol now is if you have been given Sunday Ticket for free already they won't give it to you for free again...I don't miss their annual jacked up rates and calling asking for relief game at all

I haven't paid for it the last three years but it did seem to me that they were more inclined to let me walk compared to previous years.

I recently cancelled my service while still under contract. My bill had gotten too high to the point where it was cheaper to pay the $320 early termination fee and sign up with another provider. They were willing to offer me $5 per month off when I threatened to cancel. About two weeks after I did cancel, I received an offer in the mail (the day after I sent my equipment back) asking me to sign back up and to call a "dedicated number." I called and they offered me a rate that was $50 per month less, plus a $200 Visa gift card, plus Sunday Ticket, and they waived the early termination fee. It seems like they don't do much for threats of termination any longer; they actually make you go through with it.

$320 termination fee?? I thought they charged you $15 bucks plus $20 for every month left on your contract. You must have had a ways to go.

Who did you wind up signing up with if you don't mind my asking? My wife and I are thinking of dropping DirecTV and we only have 4-5 months left on our contract. I can't get Comcast in my area but Dish Network has all the channels we want to watch at half the cost.

Yeah, $320. I was only 8 months in to my 24 month contract commitment that resulted from the movers "deal." I was using an antenna and Netflix after cancellation while I decided which provider I was going to go with. I was going to sign up with Dish, but I ended up signing back up with DirecTV as a result of their offer. I generally like their service, and the price they quoted me was within a few dollars of the Dish price.

I love it. But being a dolphins fan in South Florida you really need other options to watch after 1:20 on a Sunday. That team is just so boring and pathetic. Have to look at max again, I liked that when it was free having it on the computer, but not worth that price.
