i was thinking about some of my favorite noles that didnt get much pub, didnt make it big in the nfl, stuck to special teams and made great plays or were just overlooked during their time here at fsu. mine would have to be mr marcello chruch. he lit people up on special teams and every time he would get in on defense he would be in on a tackle or hitting someone. i would look specficly for him on plays just so i could yell, "Marcello" when he did something good. give me some other "no name noles" you guys liked

From recent years, I'd go with Sam McGrew and Leroy Smith.

EG Green. Still holds records at FSU. Was injury plagued in the NFL which cut it short. Best hands I have ever seen.

Jeff Chaney is a good call. I always thought he was as good as Minor and didn't he have that big 4th down carry for us against VTech in the '99 title game?

Though he became a household name towards the end of his career, I always loved Wille Reid since he came in as a RB. Just a silent guy who we could always count on to make a play.

    Next would be Paul Irons

I'll take that Ward guy we had in the early 90's.

A decent enough football player, but boy could he play some hoops.

David Castillo comes to mind recently. Incredible heart, but absolutely cursed by injuries.

Sam McGrew is a great choice as well. He would have started almost anywhere else.

Matt Henshaw was a better TE than he got credit for. Same with BJ Dean at FB.

    On Kickoffs:

Return Team: Tamarick Vanover (not really a no name)

Coverage Team: this guy hit you ssssssooooo hard. You need to get a game film and watch him to really understand. #10 Corrian Freeman from Jacksonville, Florida if memory serves me

Jerry Johnson was the unsung hero on the '96 d-line, but he lived in the backfield... He looked like a frikkin bowling ball with legs.

melvin pearsall is still my fav TE. what about Dan Kendra? I know he was pretty hyped but with all the injuries and position change he was truly a nole.

Rock Preston was a another fav, and i like germaine stringer cuz the called him "G-String".

I'm pretty sure that was Minor. But I agree, Jeff is a good choice. He was an unsung hero in that NC game.

Weegie and Alphonso were pretty well known back then.

I like the Corian Freeman reference though....mine is going back to the Dexter/Dawsey days baby...

Shelton Thompson and/or Terry Anthony... those guys killed me on campus with Shelton's fade and Terry's chains!!

I have to agree on Jeff Chaney. Although my favorite no name that I want to see succeed is currently on our team, which is Mister Alexander. This guy was determined that he would be a Nole. I hope he becomes an impact player in his career.
