FSU head coach Mike Norvell addressed the media for over 11 minutes after Tuesday morning's practice, the first in full pads of the preseason. It was definitely one of his more informative availabilities of the year so far. Here are some quick highlights:

  • Norvell shared that redshirt sophomore wide receiver Darion Williamson has been a bit limited to start fall camp after he got into an accident while driving back to town. Today was his first day as a full participant and he made quite a few plays, including a touchdown during 11-on-11 work, which impressed Norvell.
  • Norvell also shared that they are easing redshirt sophomore offensive lineman Darius Washington back from the injury which ended his spring prematurely. This has allowed them the opportunity to work a few guys in with the first team and, by proxy, work a few guys in with the second team as well. Through the last few practices, it has been clear that FSU's offensive line depth is as good as it has been in years.
  • AJ Duffy has stacked a few good practices over the last few days and Norvell had some high praise for him after Tuesday's practice, saying that he's as far along as any freshman quarterback he's ever coached.
  • Another true freshman drawing praise is Brian Courtney. He had another impressive catch today, something he seems to do at least once in each practice. Norvell made it clear he should have some kind of role, at the very least on special teams, right away.
The practice report are coming shortly. Below is the full video of Norvell's post-practice interview.
