if LeBron trained for 6 months to a year at learning to be a goalie in soccer, do you believe he would have a chance at making the national team when done?

Tim Howard is the man, but I mean LeBron is more athletic, taller, jump higher, smart...idk man???
A big piece of goalkeeper is putting yourself in the right position as well as your defenders. It takes time and experience to get that knowledge. Being overly tall is not an advantage at Goalie. Howard can jump well over the height of the goal and can get to the ground quickly too when need be. Also, taking the goal kicks and punting the ball and playing the ball with his feet when they need to pass it back to him. Playing keeper at the professional level is much more than athletic ability.

While some height is good for goal keeper I might think being too tall becomes a hindrance for some as it could slow reflexes?

Good points....Stephen Curry then....;)

Could you imagine if he told Klinsmann that he wasn't going to run a play that JK just put into the game. That shit might go over with a laugh in Cleveland, but it wouldn't go over very well in Columbus.

Lebron owns a piece of Liverpool, let him go over there and proclaim himself King. Liverpool does need a forward or two.

I voted no. He'd be great on set pieces, though.

would be interesting to see him do some set pieces. its a very narrow skill that someone like him could master in reasonably short time. plus, few soccer players would have his strength to muscle into position, not to mention his vertical. if you think about it, its probably worth having one guy with his physical attributes on the field at a time just for taking and defending set pieces. Alexi Lalas made a career out of it.

I'm confident Lebron would have been a good keeper if he grew up playing. No way would he be good in 6 months, at 30 years of age. Soccer is a tough sport.

Substitutions are limited in the international matches. If he were only good at that and bad at everything else the rest of the game, that would be a poor use of a substitution, unless there was very very little time left and you needed a goal to tie or win.
