    A long long time ago
I can still remember when the Warchant used to make me cry
But I knew the day would come along
That I would write this silly song
And maybe they’d be happy for a while

    But Saturdays would make weary
    Wishing Tech still had O’Leary
    Bad news on the scoreboard
    I couldn’t find the rip-cord

I can’t remember if I cried when those 14 years had passed us by
I was probably drunk and a little high
    The day the Dynasty died

So bye bye Mr. Birmingham guy
Though are hearts are really heavy
    We’re too angry to cry
JoePa’s pushing 90 but he looks pretty spry
Singing I’m coaching ‘til the day that I die
Coaching ‘til the day that I die

Did you quote the Book of John?
When they put “For Sale” signs on your lawn
Saying that your boy must go

And do you remember the AP polls?
    Can Jimbo save the Seminoles---
And can he teach us how to play… again?

Well I know you don’t agree with him
And Chuck went postal… in the gym
They both kicked off their shoes
Man I felt like blowing a fuse

I was a lonely teenage freshman lad
Standing on your porch, I wanted Ginger bad
But I knew Ann would sure be mad
    The day the Dynasty died

    And I was singing:
    bye bye Mr. Birmingham guy
Though are hearts are really heavy
    We’re too angry to cry
JoePa’s pushing 90 but he looks pretty spry
Singing I’m coaching ‘til the day that I die
Coaching ‘til the day that I die

Now for 8 years it’s been misery
We can’t even win in the ACC
But that’s not how it used to be
When Bob and Ann were the King and Queen
    Over the collegiate football scene
and the Noles were as perfect as can be
Oh, but while the King was looking down
A weiner stole his thorny crown
    The tables had been turned
Nooo! Chuck the Chest had returned

And with the offense stuck in park
we circled round like hungry sharks
but our bite was weaker than our bark
    The day the Dynasty died

    And we were singing:
    bye bye Mr. Birmingham guy
Though are hearts are really heavy
    We’re too angry to cry
JoePa’s pushing 90 but he looks pretty spry
Singing I’m coaching ‘til the day that I die
Coaching ‘til the day that I die

Helter Skelter in a Doak swelter
with Jeffie looking for a new tax shelter
The football team was falling fast
And landing foul on the grass
Wetherford tried for a forward pass
With the X man on the sideline
    Grabbing ass

Now the halftime air was gloom and doom
While the Marching Chiefs played some Hitchcock tunes
    We all did whiskey shots
    In the Booster parking lots

Cause the players tried to take the field
The Marching Chiefs refused to yield
But we couldn’t score on the Tuba guild
    The day the Dynasty died

    And we were singing:
    bye bye Mr. Birmingham guy
Though are hearts are really heavy
    We’re too angry to cry
JoePa’s pushing 90 but he looks pretty spry
Singing I’m coaching ‘til the day that I die
Coaching ‘til the day that I die

And there we were all in one place,
The Seminole Nation, lost in space
With no time left to start again
So come on Jimbo Fisher, Tricky Rick
Forget Jimmy Sexton, he’s a useless prick
Cause money is your agent’s only friend
And as I watched him on the stage
I knew we had turned another page
Cause, no angel born in hell
    Could break Nick Saban’s spell

And as the flames climbed high from that burning spear
    We suffered through another year
I heard JoePa laughing in my ear
    The Day the Dynasty died

    And he was singing:
    bye bye Mr. Birmingham guy
Though are hearts are really heavy
    We’re too angry to cry
JoePa’s pushing 90 but he looks pretty spry
Singing I’m coaching ‘til the day that I die
I’m Coaching ‘til the day that I die

I met a girl who had some news
Forever and Ever was the name she used
But she just smiled and went away
And I went down to that sacred place
Where the Seminoles had once won the race
But the man there said the spear no longer burned

And in the streets the students screamed
The alumni cried and the trustees schemed
But not a word was spoken
    Our spirits had been broken

And the three men I admired most
Weinke, Ward and the Rooskie Ghost
had caught the last train for the coast
    The day the Dynasty died.

    And they were singing:
    bye bye Mr. Birmingham guy,
Though are hearts are really heavy we too angry to cry
JoePa's pushing 90 but he looks pretty spry
Singing I’m coaching ‘til the day that I die.
Coaching ‘til the day that I die

BTNF- that was incredible, and very very clever. I actually was singing along as I read it.

    Impressive lol,

Here's a poem I thought of, titled " the man with moobs"

the man with moobs has returned
    although many bridges burned
the good ole boys are intact again
as the noles struggle to get a win

the man with moobs tries to run the team
as his moobs bust a seam
he continues to wears those gay little glasses
as he kisses the bowdenites asses

the man with moobs couldn't win with the pack
that made lord Bobby get the moobman back.
Missed tackles, overpursues, and missed assignments galore
oops the tight end slipped by us for yet another score.

The dynasty once proud continues to fall
and the man with the moobs, is no man at all

Maybe we can all get together at a game with a few pops in us, and sing it together.

    Great job!

In the interest of perfection, the grammar nazi in me must point out that "are hearts" in the chorus should be "our hearts"...

    BTNF, thanks. I needed that.

Once again, very well done. That old tune will probably hang around in my head all day now. At least it's one that's welcome to stay for awile.

Speaking of staying, you wouldn't want to give Jackson Browne's "Stay" a shot would you? Naw, just forgetaboutit! [IMG]
