It's Beginning To Feel A Lot Like Christmas!

This has been the longest, coldest spell since we've been in the panhandle. Since Friday, the warmest it's been in the morning has been 25° with three days in the teens. I'm worried about my sour orange tree.

The limes I couldn't reach are on the ground now.

Yeah. I'm worried about my sour orange tree. I hope I don't lose it.
Lots of fruit trees, palms and those types of plants are looking bad in our area. Even ones I covered are not doing good.

Mine are older trees that haven't been properly maintained. Hopefully I can cut the grapefruit back this year, but it didn't even fruit this year.

It's been challenging to change from zone 6 gardening to zone 9.

This is what six consecutive mornings in the 20s and teens did.

Yikes. My brother and SIL were living in Mt. Dora in 1983 when that horrible freeze came in over Christmas - there was an orange grove across the street. Every single tree was lost, but the awful sickly sweet smell of rotting oranges was the worst part. The grove owner sold out and now it’s a subdivision.
Hope your tree makes it.
