Keeping it positive today

Fellas, here is to hoping we find that same spark we showed against ND. I hope MM gets his groove back, Corbin rips off some big runs and the D makes some crucial stops. Most of us felt “we’re back” after that loss and for good reason.

let’s hope these kids and CMN prove us wrong and take major strides today. Screw 0-4

God Bless Gents, let’s go support our Noles today. Lord knows it ain’t easy these days.

Feed the rock to RBs today

Our running back group is our most talented group on offense. It is important that we establish positive rhythm early in this game, and give the offense some early wins to boost confidence. I'd run Corbin, Ward, Toafili, and Williams early and often. I would love to see Corbin with a big day. We need to run for at least 200 yards to have a chance of winning. Run, run, then run some more

I'm probably going to get banned

Before this ship gets turned around but by God I've been on Warchant since the early 2000's and I'm sick of the crap I see on this site from posters. Thing is I'm connected to FSU and Memphis and others and will get banned but these trolls will keep on keeping on. If I go down please y'all posters that's been around like me take control and don't let these folks take over this site

Observations on players on D for the Wake game after watching film.

(1) LB's overall were shooting the wrong gaps and at the wrong times and. They did exactly what Wake wanted.

#46 is an average tackler at best and struggles at coverage.

#33 uses very poor tackling technique and is not aggressive at times. An arm tackler, he never seems to square a runner up and tackle him in a clean manner. Not sure if he should be playing LB.

#32 can't play and is still lost.

#20 didn't play much (due to suspension) and was ineffective.

I didn't see any significant good plays or bad plays from any other LB. The others guys didn't seem to do or play that much.

(2) S's take bad angles, are slow to react to run plays for run support, and are poor tacklers overall. Poor effort many times.

#23 messes up and gives up a TD and then loafs after realizing it. He also misses tackles and can be a soft tackler. He also freelances at times.

#10 gives up the inside for no good reason and gives up a big play. Poor effort at times.

#5 poor effort in limited playing time.

I didn't see any significant good or bad plays from any other S.

(3) CB's overall were awful. Poor tackling and poor coverage.

#3 keeps giving up the inside for no good reason and gives up big plays as a result. Gives good effort though.

#7 keeps giving up the inside for no good reason and gives up big plays as a result. Has knucklehead plays.

#18 gives poor effort a lot and uses poor technique on tackling.

I didn't see any significant good or bad plays from any other CB.

(4) Overall, the back 7 is a complete mess and the reason why our defense is so bad right now. Poor effort. I'd be embarrassed if I was these kids watching their effort. Players seem to quit. No sense of urgency. Lots of missed open field tackles due to poor technique and discipline. Poor angles. Poor hustle (other than #3).

(5) Kudos to the DL. These guys give good effort every play and are generally effective except for some pass rushing. Sometimes they struggle outright beating the guy in front of them, but they seem to always get at least a tie where the LB or DB has to make a play. They also often can't shed blocks because they are getting held and the incompetent idiot ACC refs don't call it.

Ryder Cup - ask me anything

Good evening all!

Just pulled into the hotel from an awesome day at Whistling Straits. I know there are other Ryder Cup threads out there, but feel free to ask me anything overnight about the setting, Brooks/Berger day 1 etc. Here as a lifelong fan realizing a dream, not a media member, but wow have I seen some awesome stuff so far…

Will answer them on the drive up to Kohler tomorrow. On the road bright and early to see the Noles play Spain’s dynamic duo (first match out at 8:05 ET)

Cheers!

Tom

Wake Forrest LOL

The LOL is because this years game was a terrible match up for FSU. Many of us, me included, thought last weeks game was a “defining moment” for Mike Norvelle to show that the JAX State loss was more of a fluke after such a strong showing vs Notre Dame.

Wake Forrest returns 20 starters and has 9 sixth year seniors. They are extremity well coached. The game was on the road too.

Last weeks game would have needed to be a ball control no turn over performance to even have had a chance. That obviously didn’t come close to happen.

Miracles - Extra Educational Benefits

In case you missed it, the SEC just authorized $6,000 extra per year in educational benefits per athlete yesterday. ESPN and the SEC will continue to squeeze the competition out of Tier 1 football. It's an extra $3 million in operating costs for universities that can afford it. Prepare for more chaos as conference realignment continues to unfold. It's just getting started...

"The surprise is not that the SEC is the first conference to use Alston for its benefit; rather, it's the fallout that comes from the announcement. Additional educational benefits give the nation's most powerful conference, at least for now, a recruiting advantage. That's at least the way it will be portrayed by other coaches and administrators.

When asked about a perceived recruiting advantage, Stricklin added, "I think the Supreme Court answered that. Basically, the Supreme Court said the NCAA cannot prevent this from happening based on existing antitrust laws."

"It's almost guaranteed you come to school X and you'll have a post-graduate scholarship," said Tom McMillen, head of Lead1, the FBS athletic directors professional organization. "It's effectively a job after college. I don't see the NCAA refereeing. It's like NIL -- Leadville, Colorado in 1870 without any policemen around."

In other words, the wild, wild West. While the benefits are capped annually at $5,980, some experts believe that's just a placeholder figure.

"The maximum always becomes the minimum," one Power Five commissioner said.

Saban using Deion quote tonight

From Saban’s interview tonight. Received from a Bama friend off Tider Insider:

“For his ‘Final Word,” Saban said “Deion Sanders was talking to his [Jackson State] team about spirit and passion and people going to practice with a sense of purpose. You condition yourself to do that in practice.
“Some people think they can ‘save themselves’ in practice. You have to grind through practice to develop good habits when you get tired and have to grind through a game.
“I love that video. I sent it to all the players.”

THIS is why Norvell needs the time!!!

From Andrea Adelson's recent ESPN article on FSU and Miami's problems:

"There's nobody that expects more than I expect," Norvell told ESPN on Tuesday. "Nobody wants to be 0-3. But it's my job to set the foundation of this program so we won't have to experience this again. We have to learn the lessons now. As we get success and build upon the positives, that's when our program is going to take that step, but I'm not going to seek a shortcut in the process and lower the standards in any way because we have to do this right....

"We are not a finished product," Norvell said. "We've got to demand that consistency from our players. It showed up in the first game, guys responding the right way. The last couple of weeks, we've let circumstances distract us in moments of what we needed to do and that's something that we have to grow through and get corrected. But it's something that doesn't necessarily happen overnight, and we're continuing to work on that."

Paul Gleason

Yesterday a friend of mine asked me if I knew that Paul Gleason attended FSU and even played football for us in the late 50s. My first response was - who the hell is Paul Gleason?

After googling his name, I recognized him right away from a number of 80s and 90s movies. Just thought I’d share since we all know about the true great alums (Richard Simmons, Cheryl Hines, Spanx lady, etc.), but I wasn’t sure if everyone knew about Paul.
