I’ll be at the game.

Good afternoon fellow Noles,

I haven’t been to an FSU game since 2014’s Clemson & Notre Dame. I previously had season tickets, yet going to games was a bit of a hassle to me so I opted to enjoy them at home.

However, given all the losses and the subsequent crucification of damn near all things (football related) FSU—figured I should make it back and show my support.

I’m also bringing another Nole who’s been a fan for 25+ years yet has never been to Doak, and they’re beyond excited. Now I’m looking forward to it even more.

I’ve been to 4 FSU games—2008 Colorado, 2011 Miami, 2014 Clemson, 2014 Notre Dame—and we won all four, so hopefully I have a Nole good luck charm stuck up my ass 😉

I’ll be in row 2, right at the 50 yard line, behind the FSU bench. The best seats I’ve ever had. I’m excited. Hoping I can again walk out the stadium with FSU on the winning side 😎

Seminole Tribe of Florida

So maybe there’s something extremely obvious that I just don’t know however, why do we not look for/receive financial help from the Seminole Tribe of Florida? We already work with the Tribe to remain authentic to their culture when it came to our uniform redesign (love it or hate it) and not to mention Osceola and Renegade. Our logos are some of the most recognizable logos in sports and is essentially the face of the Seminole tribe for not only the country but internationally as well. FSU looking good by default makes the Tribe look good and vice versa. The Tribe not only owns gambling in the entire state of Florida, but also own all but the original Hard Rock’s across the world. Why are we not tapping into this resource like Oregon does with Nike and what TAMU does with their oil tycoon alums?

Youth Movement!

Corey wrote about a Youth Movement last year (2020 Youth Movement) but we are witnessing exactly how a new HC flips a roster.

With all the exits, players choosing not to play again and graduations coupled with this team of coaches willing to play the youngsters this is indeed a youth movement like we havn't seen in a long time.... possible since Bobby first came here.
14 of the 22 possible starting slots on offense & Defense are underclassmen. If you count special teams it's 19 of 28.

Per the two deep on Offense we have the following
Starters:
Fr: 3
So: 3
Jr: 3
Sr: 2

2nd String:
Fr: 7
So: 0
Jr: 1
Sr: 3

Per the two deep on Defense we have the following
Starters:
Fr: 3
So: 5
Jr: 1
Sr: 2

2nd String:
Fr: 6
So: 2
Jr: 2
Sr: 1

If we look at the two deep on Special Teams we have the following
Starters:
Fr: 2
So: 3
Jr: 1
Sr: 0

2nd String:
Fr: 2
So: 3
Jr: 1
Sr: 0

*I know this is also due to the 2020 season but that doesn't change the fact they are underclassmen.

So, with this many underclassmen what are your thoughts on the season?
A. Improved over last year because we couldn't be worse
B. Improved over last year because the younger guys are clearly better than the older guys
C. 50/50 because youth leads to a lot of mistakes

How does the staff...

Keep picking us to win? What indication do they have? Hope? Sure I get that but we have been bamboozled for years from this team. You say we will win the run game and we rush for under 100 yards. You say KZ is going to air it out and he throws interception after interception. This week it's the kicking game and we will probably clang 2 off the uprights and kick one out of bounds on the one kickoff attempt we get.

Seriously, how do we believe we're not going to get the brakes beat off of us this week?!?!?

Someone gave the analogy of Charlie Brown and the football. Seriously, can I get the over on False Starts or Blown Coverages?!?!?!? How many dumb calls on 4th down can you have? We should try a 3 quarterback set called the Lamecat. Where all 3 look at each other and throw it 15 yards behind them to a lineman who was ineligible. Maybe we could also grab the running back with the fewest yards and feature them this week. Maybe we should give an OV to that guy who's on the lam. He apparently knows how to run and shake coverage. Lastly, swing by Dennys at 230 in the morning and grab some goobers who want to clobber guys on the other side.

Ok...I got it out of my system. We win in a squeaker. Go Noles!

I cracked the code, FSU needs to hire Adam Gase

Before you LOL, hear me out.

Every team/player that has been under Adam Gase's tutelage (or hell a part of) has gone on to win big the year after he leaves.

Tannehill and Darnold? Got better as soon as they left him.

Denver Broncos? Won the super bowl the year after he left.

LSU? Won the National Title in 03 after he left after the 02 season.

His high school team? Won the state title the year after he graduated in 1996.

So... FSU needs to hire Adam Gase and then fire him after one year and boom National Championship.

(9/24/21): Legit shot to turn season around, future solutions, staying patient

(6:00) 0-3 sucks but you beat Louisville and you're sort of, kind of back on track for what you thought 2021 would be

(20:00) How about Jermaine Johnson

(30:00) Kicking around solutions, looking at past examples

(45:00) Revisiting a question from last year about the roster

(51:00) Staying the course, patient with Norvell

(59:00) Will refs ever get better?

(1:03:00) Is this team better than 2020?

Fsu DL play & defensive coaching-Key

They do not have a very good offensive line. It is the weakest part of their offense. They have two decent lineman on the left side that will not be able to block Johnson.

Are right side is not very good including one player that can't block anybody.

It is my strong belief that if we do not figure out how to overwhelmed their offensive line we lose. maybe we Blitz Maybe we run stunts but getting overwhelming pressure on their offensive line This will be the key to the game.

Would Norvell ever pull a "Holgorsen"

As our loyal fan base stews over another embarrassing loss and muses (at least some of us) about showing Norvell the door (which, IMHO, we simply don't have the money to do right now), I began to wonder: Would Norvell ever pull a "Holgorsen"? Let me explain:

A few seasons ago, Dana Holgorsen, then the coach at West Virginia, left WVU (a P5 school) for Houston (a G5 school). Holgorsen left WVU of his own choice to go to UH. The perception was that although Holgorsen was doing okay at WVU, the program wasn't progressing, and he found another "lily pad" to hop to before the heat got to be too much in the kitchen at WVU.

I can't help but think that Norvell, now 0-3 this season and 3-9 overall, is wondering whether he is over his head, and would prefer taking a lesser job than face the indignity of being fired. And while I believe that Norvell gets at least one more year after this one even if he goes 1-11 or 2-10 in 2021 (due to the University's finances and our ongoing obligation to pay Taggart through 2023), I can't help but wonder if he would jump to another job, even a G5 job, if he knew his firing was inevitable.

Thoughts?

Bill Walsh said....

i watched a football life on him and he said that something that really struck me. He said people say that football is a collision sport and it is BUT it doesn't need to be. He wanted his teams to hit the other team first and it struck me b/c i was like yeah, be the aggressor. Watching a replay of the WF game i saw a lot of defenders catching blocks, wrs catching blocks ont he outside. I can't think of many plays where someone squared up and attacked. Seems like they are on there heels so much. Does that come from sucking or not knowing what you are doing and thinking too much?
