Zerrick Cooper JSU QB

This game gave me heartburn last year and JSU was actually Leading at halftime. I don’t know Zerrick stats from last year but he lit us up. He’s a former Clemson QB.

The middle LB is only 210 lbs, better be some serious running going on Sat. They have a DE that is 6’6 250 and was a potential transfer to FSU this offseason.

They were shutout by UAB last week.UAB has a nice defense but that’s ridiculous. I really would be shocked if this game was anything like last year. JSU will throw the ball a lot so our DBs better be ready this weekend.

The last 2 games there have been….

Several coaching errors and loads of penalties.

Penalties on offense are drive killers and on defense they extend drives.

I honestly think if they can correct the coaching errors (not playing prevent defense on the last play or sending an all out blitz on 3rd and long vs ND) and limit the really unnecessary penalties we can beat Wake Forrest.

Unrealistic fans

If we start 0-5 Norvell is done. If we finish this year 1-11 or 2-10 Norvell is done. This notion our university doesn't have money is a joke. Coaching salaries are paid out just like everyone else. They get paychecks and their annual salary is a part of the annual budget. Norvell being fired can be done and will done. What can not happen financially is having less than 10,000 fans showing up to games and losing booster contributions. That lost of revenue is not sustainable. It's the path we're headed towards.

Losing to Jacksonville State was ROCK BOTTOM! How so many of our fans don't understand that is truly mind boggling.

We should be 2-0 right now. Many coaching staffs would have won the ND game comfortably and would have blownout Jacksonville State like we should have. Norvell was never the right hire and the faster this second joke hire in a row ends the better. We have to hire a football coach who actually knows how to coach at this level and has a proven track record of said coaching. Period.

Jeff Purinton for AD

Need to go out and get this guy now. FSU Alum who's spent 15 years at Alabama. Let's be ready when we have to make that next change. He knows what it takes to win at the top level. The connections and network He has acquired over the years at Alabama has to be a plus. Anyway, this is my hope. Would just like to see us get ahead of the curve for once.

How about Jermaine Johnson

And this defensive line though! Playing their ass off. Wake won't block us but Jarion Jones and especially Dotson shouldn't play as much. Want to see Travis Jay and Brownlee and a lot more Kevin Knowles. This defense has been solid folks, the offense just needs to play more sound like they did against ND. We will be okay and I still think we win 6 games and make a bowl

Let's remember with Milton going forward...

Sure, the Jax St game was awful. But the staff was screwing around with the game plan and didn't take the opponent seriously. Playing their 3rd best RB in the 4th quarter in a close game. But let's move on. Can't get a mulligan unfortunately.

But going into ACC play, let's remember that we have a QB who knows how to win and knows nothing but winning (yeah, yeah...until he came to FSU, I get it). He's a field general that we need right now. He'll make plays down the field if the defense only tries to stop the run. He won't take many sacks and will throw the ball away when needed. And big picture, he knows that he likely only has 9 weeks left in his football-playing career. We'll get his best effort, and he's a smart and special QB.

The WR's and TE's obviously have to do better. A lot better. But I think Milton will be crucial in getting some wins in the upcoming ACC stretch. Still have to run the ball hard with Corbin and Ward. But Milton will be the stabilizing force we need to get some wins going into the Clemson game.

One program point that’s important

I don’t think I’ve seen this mentioned but I just brought it up in another thread and think it’s worth discussion. Everyone wants to talk about brand and pageantry and tradition. I think the thing that has most fans so upset right now beyond not winning is the fact that when our beloved Seminoles step on the field…it means ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to our opponents. “We are Florida State!” Isn’t scary. The planting of the spear isn’t intimidating. The gold helmets and roar of the crowd and Warchant don’t do anything to give us an advantage. We are a team and program that, at this current moment, have no mental edge over our opponents.

Face it. We are going to have to grind out every chance at victory. UMass included. None of the aforementioned stuff will matter again until this team and staff realizes it doesn’t matter now. The program needs an identity and it needs it quickly. We may want to stop climbing and start grinding because IMO that’s what it’s going to take. Players who are willing to be mean, dirty and play with a chip on their shoulder. Here’s hoping that the one thing that came out of the JSU loss.

sincerely,
A glass half empty fan. Go Noles.
