Okay now this is what I use to do for a living so this is my opinion right or wrong, but in my opinion our AD needs to have a very frank conversation about the expectations at FSU and what will not be aloud to happen. I am sure something of this nature has been said early on, but it needs to be reiterated strongly now. I would say this needs to get cleaned up within weeks or start making decisions on who to replace on the staff and if not I as the AD will step in and make those decisions.

I'm not saying fire the head coach as I believe he will at least run his 3 years out, but it's open season on everything else. Losing to an FCS team is completely unacceptable and cannot happen. No excuses

Now that the dust has settled, should we start to think of the next game as the one that will define Norvell? They played an pretty damn good game against a top 10 team. Yes there were mistakes but there was improvement. Next is JSU and is it the biggest loss in school history. Now we have two bodies of work. One not terrible and one a shit show. If we play a well coached game and win against Wake and correct the mistakes, is our identity ND or JSU?

Then I think he’s going to lose the fans, the players, and some recruits. At some point you have to put wins on the board. Our ceiling is 2 - 3 wins if WF beats us.

The spread for this game is Wake -6.5, but oddshark has us losing by 2 TDs. By the way, oddshark had us barely beating Jax St before our game last weekend. IIRC their score prediction was 23–17 or something close to that. I remember thinking - these people are nuts. Guess not

If we play like we did vs ND, then I think we can beat WF. But that doesn’t seem likely given the performance at home last weekend.

I think this will be the defining moment for MN at FSU. Win this game, and MAYBE we can salvage our season and go to a bowl. Lose this game, and we are legitimately at rock bottom…again.

The lamenting seems somewhat extreme..... Our football program has been dead for a couple of years. Last night, some of y'all finally took a pulse. Accept reality. What did we expect? We hired a coach with NO P5 head coaching experience. NONE. Look at the experience of our DC, for that matter. Said it before, the renaissance man was a long shot. We went cheap and also looked for a compliant personality. Bush-league decision makers.

All along I caught hell for saying this: "Norvell has my full support (will continue being a booster, ticket holder), but he doensn't have my confidence. I need to see some improved play and some wins on the field to earn my confidence". Many posters seemed enraged at that rational perspective... This loss might be part of the renaissance man's "learning curve", maybe he improves, he could... I hope he does, but hope is not confidence.

Several years ago, I called us the "Tennessee of the ACC"... caught hell for that, too. Said were in the same boat as Tennessee and Nebraska. Lamblasted as hyperbole then, seems fairly apropos now. Today, I'll put on my FSU hat, get lunch at my favorite diner, laugh at the smart ass remarks from the locals, and will be watching the Wake game next week, with the hope that somehow we turn it around...

We’ve all beaten the Jax State loss to death. It’s time we move on to Wake, because it has become a huge game for us and especially for our coaching staff. It’s pretty much a must win game. We win and come home and beat Louisville and Syracuse, and it might be possible to win 4 games this season. Unless something drastic changes, immediately, there isn’t another game on the schedule, except UMass that we’re currently capable of winning. Clearly, unless we move on and focus on Wake, we’ll start the season 0-3, with the likes of UNC, UM, Clemson, BC, and UF looming in the future.

Here we stand. Atop a hill in a sleepy North Carolina town with a pit of despair between us and hope -- will we take thay hill or stumble into the abyss? We don't know. We just...don't...know.

Taking my 4 year old son to the Wake Forest game for what will be his first FSU game as it's only an hour drive from Charlotte where we live. I'm debating between tickets on the "Deacon Hill" in the endzone (grassy area, video board is at your back) or bleacher seats. Any thoughts for those who have been or other words of advice? Thanks in advance.

Concessions were a disaster during the ND game. Was there any improvement for the JSU game?

Was this loss to Jacksonville State out of the FCS the game that killed our program? I feel lost as ever....

I'm betting MM has a good game against Wake as he gets more game reps. He did look good scrambling and getting the ball out quickly which is critical with our OL. The interception was caused by the CB jumping the route which happens. I also think the Wide Receivers will start catching the ball once MM is more relaxed and can make the ball more "catchable". MN will back up MM with a good running attack of Corbin and Ward. A better offense performance will help the D and avoid short fields. I think this game comes down to how our secondary covers the Wake QB. He can throw.

Love JT but I think it's MM time with Chubba in the wings.

Trying not to beat a dead horse but his comments on the RBs are flat out ridiculous. You need someone who can break 20-30yard plays??? LT has 4 times for that last season with two being longs of 21 and 24 lol what are you talking about. It's easy to see your best backs in games are 0 and 8. The logic there is just flat out stupid honestly. I cannot wrap my head around that ridiculous comment and not understand that your other backs are performing much better. OH it depends who is in and if there is a hole?? Okay ....good backs make stuff out of nothing literally every weekend.

Also the next mind blowing comment was him saying that because they were in quarters 4 deep it was what it was as far as what they could call....excuse me?? So you got out schemed and out adjusted by a damn FCS staff?? What are we paying you for then if you cannot adjust to something like that. Crap just disappointing

There have been way too many close games and close calls against inferior opponents over recent years. This was bound to happen and our number was up last night. I don't know if this is a shift in college football in general because of the transfer portal, or if it's just a lot of entitlement from anyone who thinks that if they go to Florida State they automatically are superior to some of these other kids, but even during the end of Bowden's run we would thrash schools like this with ease. It's sad to see so many close games where they let these other teams hang around because they don't respect the game enough to go out and play with maximum effort and execution against every opponent on their schedule. That is the difference between an elite team and a good/bad team. You don't see a Bama, Clemson or even past FSU teams let a team like this out of the first quarter with even a hope of an upset. They strangle the life out of them and completely demoralize them because they have a culture of winning. I know it's the same story now for years but we have no culture of winning around here anymore. That was evident when Willie's teams would celebrate like they just won the National Championship for squeezing out a win here and there against teams like NC State and Louisville. We have to find some way to get back to that desire to completely humiliate any and all opponents on our schedule before we will ever be back. The talent is there for the big games but the focus and determination isn't there for every game. That's the number one thing that needs to be fixed above all else.

NFL 'Noles Week 1: Winston shines on Opening Weekend​

8-days ago we went toe-to-toe against a top #10 opponent and tied them at the end of regulation. Many FSU fans believe we could have and should have won this game had a couple of plays went our way.
Fast forward a week and now because of a fluke loss all hope is lost for the 2021 season as well as the football program in general.

We coached bad, played bad, and seemingly at every time we could put the game away, everything that could go wrong, did go wrong. Why does that game have to define FSU, but not the one 6 days prior?
I for one will not give up on the NOLES and hopefully many other fans are in the same boat as I am. Bama's ULM loss did not wreck their program forever as this loss will not wreck ours.

Saturday can not get here soon enough.

before practice started here is where we were
offense -
really good coaching and coordination - norvell and dilly make up a elite combo .. saban jimbo elite
qb - we should be good - not a concern
RB maybe the best position on the team - not a concern
TE - pass catching blocking and depth not a concern
specially stuff - small back big back bubble screen speed guy H backs - we are good
OL - really started to look decent and flash potential before DLT got hurt .. figure with a good offseason and adding gibbon we should have a decent OL .. if no key injuries. Again not the strength of the team but should be good enough with good QB play we they help us score a lot of points
WR the only question mark on offense and a big one .. we need at least 3 good WR and we hope parch is one. lots of talent for years and nobody any good.. all we have is hope

Defense
honest to GOD ,, DL LB DBs and DC we just do not know .. wait and see our defense was so bad last year

After a week of practice this is where we are
Offense
QB TE RB - as we suspected
OL - DLT not playing Gibbon been here 4-5 days .. flipped washington and scott .. and have kids like zane with the ones playing not to good but getting some experience. Probably will not get a feel for the OL until maybe 7-14 days after the DLT is playing full time at his assigned spot. Not sure anyone with knowledge of the team thinks the OL will was starting to look decent will be worse .. they should be fine
WR = helton is playing very very good one slot down and we need two more guys to step up .. Parch seems to be faster and more athletic than they thought can play in the league ,, but flat out just got here and does not know the plays .. TOM BRADY is limited when he does not knwo the plays .. dude need to get serious with the play book and he should be good .. next set of possibilities are Pokey Williamson and McClain .. .. I think we see and3 know a lot more once the OL settles down and MM and Travis are hitting the WR in the hands everyday .. SUMMARY - we most likely get 2 good WR by ND and 3=4 good ones by end of september ..

Defense
DL - vastly improved, talent effort and depth .. will know more once DLT is playing and we are in pads for a week
LB - heard nothing yet
Coaching and DC = nothing yet but love the improvements we are seeing - encouraging
DB - seem to be light years improved .. they know where to line up, tight coverage, battling for the ball, talent, speed, tackling - honest to God does not even make sense is this the same guys .. so far so good at DB .. seem to be vastly improved .. again .. lets see how they look once the OL gives the WR and QBs some time .. but improved for sure

First game back from injury and rates highest in the NFL. He was born to play football.
