Is the Team fragile or the Fans?

I’ve been watching this program longer than most. Watched during the Top 5 finish years. Watched during the tough years. Last night was about as sloppy of a game as I’ve seen. That includes players, coaches and referees. But what I see more than anything is the fans especially those at the game quit. Many talk about the players and coaches as if they have a clue. Most have never stepped on a field. You expect perfection. None of us are. If you love FSU and the legacy that has been established by great players and coaches, you need to help pick these guys up now. I promise last hurt them far worse than your poor feelings. Imagine those players are your sons. Imagine those coaches are your brothers, fathers or husbands. Reach done and help them up. Trust me they’re hurting. Fans are the 12th man. Let’s Go!

Team lacks leadership from the players

This is just my opinion on the situation, I could very well be wrong. However when looking at this team who are the leaders? The closest you can find is Milton who has the pedigree and the accolades to back it up to have people look up to him but he's still new to this team. On the defensive side I can't think of a single vocal leader. Jermaine Johnson is obviously the best player we have on defense but he's also another transfer, a one and done essentially. Someone needs to step up and make others accountable. In the past we had Ramsey, Joyner, Derwin James, etc.

Who is going to step up when they need it the most?

WFU Game is

Huge for this coaching staff. IMHO, if Norvell loses the WFU game, he loses the fan base, stadium will be half empty, ditto Tallahassee hotels, he’ll also lose the team’s trust and confidence, recruits will start jumping ship, and this will just be another lost season just like under JF and WT. Folks we lost to an FCS school for the first time in FSU history! This coaching staff has taken FSU to a new low and set FSU football back yet another 2-3 years. Shame on this coaching staff! I can only wish that Norvell and staff had to answer the questions and feel the ire of the outraged fanbase directly. All the Warchant writers have stated he has lost the fanbase after Saturday’s coaching debacle. What a shame these guys aren’t fined and held accountable for their incompetence!

I'm Over It..........

I'm over the loss already because everyone is saying were are a 5 win team anyway. Plus look at the gators, loss to Ga Southern, Michigan App St. I'm telling you guys Miami is a SUB 500 team without King. Manny Fernandez better pray he stays another season. Miami will tank next season.

All that being said we are going to run the program in the ground being negative and switching coaches every 2 years. I just want Fuller dismissed I don't trust him AT ALL ANYMORE, Norvell shouldn't either.

I see athleticism, we can run the football. DL looks good. I'll be at Wake cheering these guys on. I still believe in them after seeing what I saw at ND. If these coaches can correct their own blunders we still have a chance for a decent year. Laugh at me but we can beat everyone else on the schedule if we played like we did vs ND not have the coaching blunders of that game.

Again I'm not going to turn on Norvell and help destroy a top 5 class. Go Noles beat Wake!!!!!!

Observations and Staying the Course

I had to take a day or so to process this one, nobody should be posting in the state that I was in Saturday night. My immediate reaction is this : Unacceptable, Unforgivable. Here’s what I got after a day to cool off.

Starting with Offense. If we’re going to run a 2 QB system, we have to give them plays that suit their individual strength. Don’t have Travis come in and call him plays where he’s going to sit in the pocket. We rarely get the result we want out of that. I don’t think Milton played particularly well or particularly bad. Aside from the dropped snap and the pick, there weren’t any real detrimental plays. I still think if we want this to look like a normal Offense, we start Milton. But no matter who starts, we can’t get cute. We have to attack defenses.

I could go on for days about WRs, but you guys saw what I saw. The 3 best throws of the night we’re all dropped. 1 of them is a TD, the other 2 get us into the red zone. Parchment looks lost, Helton was invisible after the drop.

Corbin and Ward need all the carries. I know the rbc approach keeps people fresh, but I think Corbin and Ward combined for something like 7 ypc. Why is Toafili in the game averaging 1.8 ypc in crucial situations?
Can we PLEASE stop running wildcat. Flexing Milton out wide is making it 10 vs 11. Nobody needs to cover him, and we had success handing the ball off.

Offensive Gameplan— there was none. I honestly think that when Helton broke wide open, MN and Dilly thought they would be able to do whatever they wanted all night. I recall 3 short yardage situations that we threw deep when we’re averaging 7YPC. The wildcat was wildly ineffective. There was no structure to our play calling. Jacksonville State did not want to deal with our athletes and we didn’t force them to. The corners were 10 yards off almost all night and we didn’t take advantage of that. The slant is probably the hardest route to defend in football and I can’t remember the last time I saw FSU throw a slant on an RPO when the backers cheat up. It would’ve been there all night on Saturday. The players didn’t play well, but the failures in preparation and game planning are more egregious than anything the players did.

As far as defense goes, for 3 quarters I was happy with them. At least for their effort. The 3rd down shortcomings are tiresome and there’s a lot to clean up especially in the secondary. But I honestly think Fuller decided that we can play man the whole game and be fine with our athletes against theirs. We are not there yet. I thought it was very apparent that Zerrick Cooper struggled mightily under pressure, but I didn’t see a us dial it up nearly often enough. 3rd and 17 last weekend messed with Fullers head. I have no confidence that Fuller is not in over his head. I hope he bounces back and proves me wrong. The last thing I’ll say about defense is how many dropped interceptions do we have in the last 4 years?? Whether it’s Jay, Dix, or Akeem Dent like usual, there comes a point when you stop congratulating them for breaking up the pass. Catch the dadgum ball.

I know all that sounded really negative, but Im not ready to give up on this team. Norvell has to re-earn the confidence of this fan base now. This loss has a chance to be career defining for him. However, if he can get the team to respond the right way and win ball games, he can make this season career defining in a positive way.

The only positive I can bring from Saturday night, is that it was clear our players were better and it hasn’t looked that way often the past few years. I even felt that way vs ND. We have guys on this team that can win us ball games. Johnson, K Thomas, Sydney Williams, Travis Jay, Corbin, Ward, McClain, plus a bunch more are ball players and we have to put them into better positions. I truly believe that the ND performance is more likely to define this team than the JSU loss.

As always Noleblooded, rain or shine, Milton or Travis, Norvell or Taggart, I’ll be chopping it up whether we’re 10-2 or 0-12. Stay the course Nole fans, this program will never be dead.

I'm sorry but Saturday was all on Norvell.

We all know this is a long haul and Norvell has done a great job at flipping the roster and setting up a recruiting class. But Saturday was entirely his fault. He did not take the game seriously, did not remember and reinforce to his team and staff that we do our job first before we have fun. He has not declared a starting QB. He realizes on stats for odd situations. The problem is there's a difference when Alabama goes for it on 4 down on your own 33 and a team the only one 3 games last year. I think Norvell may single handedly change the stats to kicking is the best option. Then he doesn't go with stats in defensive situations, like the last play of the game. I could go on. Bottom line Norvell no longer gets the benefit of doubt. He is not as good and prepared as he thinks he is. And he can't just rely on his coordinators to make the right decisions. One thing Jimbo did right his first few years is he did everything. He left nothing to chance with his staff.

(9/13/21): Indignity suffered, final playcall, punchless offense, verdict coming sooner than later

(4:00) The final playcall. Hindsight completely erases any doubt of its folly

(17:00) But woo boy, that offense stunk. Bad offense and now a controversey at QB, fun!

(38:00) PFF grades

(41:00) The trade off of Milton's arm to Travis's legs didn't work -- can it moving forward? WRs seemingly still struggling

(48:00) Reconciling this loss vs. any of the slop from 2018 and 2019

(59:00) Where does a 0-2 team that seemingly buys in year after year after year go from here?

Norvell seeks controlled aggression as emotions run high at FSU practice

It was perhaps the most spirited day of the first two weeks of preseason camp for the Florida State football team. And maybe the most competitive.

But as much as he loved that enthusiasm and fire -- and there was a lot to like -- second-year head coach Mike Norvell repeatedly took opportunities Thursday to express to his players the need to be smart about their intensity.

Norvell seeks controlled aggression as emotions run high at FSU practice

Message to MN about FSU’s Iconic FB Program

is how YOU referred to FSU in your HC acceptance speech. We’ll Mike, you just embarrassed and humiliated our iconic brand, program and the entire Seminole Nation. Shame on both you and your over-paid coaching staff. You just set the FSU program back another season or two and if your team hasn’t lost confidence in you and your coaches, I can assure you the fanbase has! Do the right thing and step up to the microphone, be a man, and take full responsibility for this national embarrassment to the Seminole Nation. Since FSU can’t afford to buy out your contract, I for one would be happy to accept your resignation on their behalf.

“Only one reason” -transfers

A few of the fsu transfers on social media saying they are only here for one reason…that being to go to the nfl.

I like the fact that we got some good players in here but it does effect the mentality of the team which I feel had the biggest reason on why we lost in addition to MN horrible play calling which is that these players should only be here for “one reason” and that one reason is bringing a chip to Florida state and they don’t care about that.

everyone wants to go to the nfl but in order to do that you need to beat Jacksonville state…
