Football Jordan Travis on FSU backup QBs: I have all the faith in the world in them

Jordan Travis joined College GameDay for an interview this morning, discussing his belief in Tate Rodemaker and Brock Glenn, how his recovery is coming and much more.

Blows my mind….

Mia flipped 5* Justin Scott from OSU. He had been committed to OSU since July. How in the hell does Mia pull all these Top DL consistently. You would think they would be lined up to be a Nole. Yes, I know we have Armando.
Scott - Chicago
Lightfoot - Chicago
Rudolph - Ohio
McConathy - Alabama

Then you have….
Artavis - Florida
Pickett - Florida

Since the top 4 do not have the so call “S FL Pressure “ to stay home how is it we struggle to pull talent in the trenches, which is where championships are won and lost. I understand there is the portal, but we really need a healthy balance imo.

Soccer FSU takes round 3 from Clemson, advances to national title game

Florida State won a physical Round 3 with Clemson. And not it’s on to the national championship game.

Kaitlyn Zipay and Jordynn Dudley scored goals as the Seminoles took a 2-0 victory over Clemson on Friday night in the semifinals of the College Cup in Cary, N.C. It was FSU’s third win of the season over the Tigers.

FSU (21-0-1) will play the BYU-Stanford winner on Monday at 6 p.m. (ESPNU) for the program’s fourth national championship.

TCU defeats FSU volleyball in NCAA Tournament

FSU sports information:

The Florida State Volleyball team (23-9) was defeated by TCU (17-14) in the first round of the NCAA Division I Women’s Volleyball Tournament. The Seminoles put up a tough fight but lost 1-3 (24-26, 25-16, 18-25, 24-26).

The first set was a battle from the start. Things got started early with an ace by Audrey Rothman to make the score 5-4. TCU would not go away as they continued to chip away at any lead the Seminoles made. A kill by Koenig would put FSU up 21-15. Before the Seminoles could close it out, TCU made a last second effort to tie the score (23-23). Koenig made another kill to give the Noles an advantage, but the team was unable to put TCU away. The Horned Frogs would go on to win the set 24-26.

Florida State responded quickly in the second set. FSU jumped out to a 10-5 lead and would not look back. Going on a 7-0 scoring run, Florida State would quickly close out the set 25-16.

The third set was difficult for Florida State. TCU took the lead early and FSU was only able to tie the score once at 4-4. The Horned Frogs secured the lead, fighting off any efforts the Noles made to come back. TCU would win the set 18-25.

As the energy in the match continued to grow, so did the crowd and the fourth set was a great showing of both teams’ talents. There were nine ties throughout the set, and it could have gone either way. Just as TCU took a 17-21 lead, the Seminoles kept a never say die mentality. FSU clawed back and tied the score at 22-22. The final points kept everyone on the edge of their seats, but the Horned Frogs would clinch the fourth set with a 24-26 win.

Koenig led the way for FSU with 13 kills, 21 digs, and a .370 hitting percentage. Andjelija Draskovic had 23 assists and Kiari Robey had five blocks.

The Seminoles were not expected to be in this position at the beginning of the season. Being picked to finish fourth in the ACC, they were the first team to be ranked fourth or lower and finish with a share of the ACC title since 2017 Louisville. Overcoming injuries, Florida State defied the odds and became ACC Co-Champions for the first time since 2012. Audrey Koenig had a historic season winning the ACC Co-Player of the Year. Head Coach Chris Poole won his third ACC Coach of the Year, his first since 2011. It was a memorable year for FSU, and you can expect the team to return next season with a healthy and mature roster, ready to compete at the highest level.

Rivals Louisville site has some thought on Norvell over Brohm for Coach of Year

The message boards on the Rivals Louisville site wasn't too happy with the choice of Norvell over Brohm for COY honors feeling their first year coach, who was expected to finish 8yh this year, was robbed by Norvell, whose team was favored to win the conference.
Never mind he coached FSU to a 12-0 season, beat Clemson at Clemson, and defeated TWO in-state rivals, something Brohm failed to do against a so-so, arch-rival Kentucky.
Finally about a dozen posts into the thread, the voice of reason spoke:
"Considering where Florida state was when he took over and where they are now I’ve got no problem with Norvell winning it," one poster wrote. "When we played them last year you would have put him at a coinflip whether he would be the coach this year and they are currently on an 18 game winning streak. That’s a pretty impressive coaching job to me."
His posts got more likes than any of the pro-Brohm posts received.

Like FSU, Cards built through transfer portal

As I was studying Louisville's depth chart this week, I found a couple of interesting notes:

1. Sixteen of the 26 players listed as starters for Louisville are transfers, including 10 of the starting 12 on offense. Eleven of the 31 players listed as UL backups are also transfers, a total of 27 of the 57 players in their two deep. Florida State counts 11 transfers on offense (now that Travis is out), as well as 6 transfer starters on defense, a total of 17 of the 47 players listed in the two deep chart. Brohm jump started his first-year success with the portal.

2, Of those 57 Louisville players listed in the two deep, 15 are 4- or 5-star players, with only five of the 4-stars in starting positions. By comparison, FSU lists 11 four- or 5-star players in their two deep.

3. Both Miami (18) and Florida (22) and now Louisville (15) have more 4- and 5-star players on the two-deep roster than did the Seminoles on the day the teams played.

Football FSU offensive line could see resurgence of depth this week vs. Louisville

After Robert Scott and Bless Harris dressed but didn't play vs. UF, FSU could use its full rotation of 8 offensive linemen Saturday for the first time in over a month. That may make a difference for an OL which has built a reputation for finishing strong.

Soccer FSU has five named to coaches' All-America team

FSU sports information:

The Florida State women's soccer team's record season continued on Friday afternoon as a school record and NCAA-leading five players were named to the United Soccer Coaches All-America Teams. Onyi Echegini and Jordynn Dudley picked up first team honors while Taylor Huff and Jody Brown were named to the second team. Cristina Roque was named to the third team for the second consecutive season.

Echegini and Dudley each picked up their first All-America honor of their career and have proven to be one of the most dangerous scoring duos in the country. They have combined for 27 goals this season, 15 from Echegini and 12 from Dudley, and were the first Florida State duo to each have 10 or more goals in a season since 2018. Echegini was named the ACC Offensive Player of the Year and Dudley was named the ACC Freshman of the Year. Both athletes were named Semifinalists for the MAC Hermann Award and both were First Team All-ACC honorees.

Brown and Huff are All-Americans for the second year in a row after both posting solid seasons for the Seminoles. Huff leads the team with 13 assists this season which is tied for the third-most assists in a single season in school history. Huff has also added seven goals for FSU and has been FSU's go-to person on corner kicks and set pieces.

Brown has once again been one of the more dangerous players in the country when she has the ball. While also juggling international duty, Brown tallied five goals and five assists in 18 games this season as she transitioned into her midfielder role for the Seminoles.

Roque has been terrific in the goal for FSU once again and has etched her name into the Florida State record books. Starting all 21 games for FSU, Roque has allowed just 13 goals for a 0.62 GAA while also recording 13 shutouts this season which is the third most in FSU history. Roque also became FSU's record holder for career shutouts in the NCAA Tournament with 15 and is just two wins away from being FSU's record holder for career wins in the NCAA Tournament.

The Seminoles will take on Clemson tonight in the National Semifinal in Cary, N.C. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. and can be seen live on ESPNU.
