50 players

50 scholarship players have left this program since Norvell took the job in December 2019. That is a lot of turnover to say the least, albeit some of it was for different reasons. Some graduates, some early to the draft, some transfers, and some have been dismissed. My point is these players are just beginning to learn how to be a team. How to put it on the line for one another. I am by no means a patient person, and am spoiled as much as any other Nole fan who has been watching since 1978, but I do see growth. I see a small shift. I am truly disappointed in the way this season has started, especially the JSU loss, but I can't stop believing in where things are headed. I can't stop watching, trust me I've tried. I appreciate this forum and everyone on it. Hoping you all can keep the faith, I know I will. It's in my blood, and I'm too old to change. Go Noles!!!

Miracles - CFP Management Committee meets today

Buckle up. It's going to be a bumpy ride. The College Football Management Committee meets today with a lot of hurt feelings and distrust.

This is the prep meeting for an expected September 28 full meeting which could be scrapped if things fall apart today. At stake is the future of college football, not just the playoffs. If playoff expansion completely falls apart, the SEC and ESPN are prepared to go it alone and withdraw completely from the NCAA and form their own super-league after the NCAA convention.

Lots of fireworks are expected over the next week or two. ESPN has the playoffs locked up until 2025 and has no intention of losing its place as the leader in college football broadcasting. The Rose Bowl is being very stubborn and does not want to play ball with the CFP contract and playoff expansion. Who the B1G decides to align with will determine what ESPN and the SEC does next.

Prepare for chaos because it is unlikely all will agree to move forward together.

SIAP-Coastal Carolina Success

It's not just Coastal Carolina but to some degree Wake Forest, Fresno State, and others. They get no where near the "rated" players some of the historically successful schools (including FSU) get yet they have decent teams that can compete with FSU. Coastal Carolina, I dare say, has no four or five star recruits, even 3 stars. Check out this article on the Chanticleers.https://www.golongtd.com/p/rising-tide-how-coastal-carolina

Miracles - Buckle Up

Further separation of the Tier 1 teams is coming soon. FSU will soon have a decision to make to run with the big dogs or die with the dead weight of the ACC... Lots of big issues all coming to the forefront at the same time.

“We’re on the cusp of college football as a whole changing completely,” Rodgers said. “I think we thought that it was behind us, ‘Look Texas and Oklahoma are here, let’s all take a breath.’ No, no, no, it’s only going to get crazier.”

"Sometime in this school year, somewhere in the legal world or administrative level, a student-athlete will be declared an employee," Notre Dame athletic director Jack Swarbrick said recently

Essentially, college athletics on the players' side would become a market-drive economy. Taken to a not-so-far-off conclusion, recruiting could go away and be replaced by a draft or system where programs bid on the best players.

Ann Bowden article today..

She seems to be doing as good as she can and is appreciative of the love and support the people of Florida State provided. The Marching Chiefs playing as Bobby left the Civic Center was spot on.

AND NOW!...........Coach Mike Norvell needs to do this..........

Stalk and Go after a truly elite QB the way these coaches did:

Auburn--the way Coach Gene Chizik went after Cam Newton would probably not fly today (paying his daddy $100 grand that Cam "knew nothing about"). LOL! Chizik was relentless (illegal but relentless). Cam first went to UF, then on to a JUCO and then one year at Auburn for a 14-0 record, Heisman and a National Championship.

Florida--Urban Meyer more or less stalked Tim Tebow all the way through his HS years. Was on national TV while watching Tebow play HS ball. Tebow won the Heisman and 2 NC's.

Clemson--Dabow Swinney was another "stalker" when he was going after Trevor Lawrence in HS. Lawrence won one NC and no Heismans (because Dabo was SO unpopular with the Heisman voters, LOL! And he did win the Bobby Bowden Trophy!.

AND WHO WILL GET ARCH MANNING???

COACH NORVELL....Find your potential Heisman candidate and do whatever is necessary to land him!

WR Realization : Eye-opening

I mean look at our starting receiving core

1. Kansas Receiver.. yes Kansas : and not basketball : Parchment
2. A DB in high school : Wilson
3. 3 star WR in high school only power 5 offer, ranked #1,309 in country

we could make an argument they have played above their ability and maybe not keep comparing them to the greats which makes them look worse, I actually think they weren’t suppose to play such a role and got a bad deal and are doing the best they can and the best we recruited them for honestly considering our current options as a team without good enough QB play to attract better. Willie didn’t recruit a QB 2 cycles in a row why would you be able to get a great receiver here?

(10/1/21): Winning combo tarnished, player criticism, are the close calls encouraging

(3:00) Norvell found success calling plays, why give that up once you've hit the big time?

(11:00) Why do coaches catch all the heat and not players

(23:00) Go with Milton and go fast with Milton?

(33:00) Team has squandered chances late, is that progress or who they are -- and game picks

Worst coaching starts who went on to have success...

Just wondering what are some of the worst starts winning coaches have had at the same school they had nationally competitive success at.

Frank Beamer went 2-9 and then 3-8 in his first two years at VT.
Mack Brown went 1-10 and then 1-10 his first two years at UNC.
Matt Rhule went 1-11 in his first year at Baylor (credit to @lcnnole )
Bill Snyder went 1-10 and then 5-6 in his first two years at KSU.
Kirk Ferentz went 1-10 and 3-9 and Iowa in his first two years at Iowa. (credit to @BigCleat42 for those two. )

What are some others, if any?
