One of the concerns for me is the last week of August is prime hurricane season, and I am wondering if it’s best to fly out of Atlanta after driving there.

One of the concerns for me is the last week of August is prime hurricane season, and I am wondering if it’s best to fly out of Atlanta after driving there.

I flew out of Orlando a couple of summers ago and on the return got stuck in Philly cause Orlando closed. Had to drive a rental back to Orlando once the airport opened to get my car. It's all a crap shoot really, Atlanta could get pounded by leftovers too.

Safer bet but three hours farther would be Charlotte.

Atlanta has more runways and is slightly farther inland. I'd pick that over Charlotte. More Cat III runways at ATL also.
