There are two factors I can think of; if they get by us they get their second leading score back and they have possibly the most talented player in the country and the deeper they go the more he shakes the rust off.

Ok, you got me on a technicality. You know I meant the point spread. Irregardless, the point (pun intended) stands. What's next? Someone going to say I use words that aren't really words?

The same can be said about the point spread also, the point spread has nothing to do with which team is expected to win. It's set at a number where there's an equal amount of money bet on each win & lose...............that way the bookie wins no matter what happens

Of course it has something to do with who is expected to win. Unless a game has completely irrational bettors betting big, the point spread and line will reflect who is expected to win. Yes bookies balance it out, but there are many knowledgeable professional gamblers who will recognize when it is cheap to bet on the team expected to win and get the line/spread back to indicating who should be expected to win. You tell me any place that will give me 900 to 1 odds (or 90 to one or 9 to one) on FSU to win and I will show a fast huge rush of bettors taking FSU. A 1 point spread indicates a pretty even game.

That's making a HUGE assumption, and that is that the large majority of bets/money were placed by "knowledgeable professional gamblers"

I'm not assuming that the large majority of bets were already placed by knowledgeable professional gamblers. I am saying that if the spread/line is too far off from reality, it is not a big assumption that the pros will swoop in and put big money behind the obvious best bet and move the odds to where they should be. That's how they make their money. There is a reason that no major gambling website or casino will be more than a half point off for very long. It is a very efficient market. Basic economics. Supply and Demand will reach the right equilibrium. We are talking big teams in a major sport.

They've played their entire season without their best player (Who's also one of the best players in the nation). He's back now, although this will be his first game back. We're going to have to play one of the best games we've played if we want to make it out of the first round. This is an incredibly tough draw.
