FSU sports information:
The No. 19 Florida State men’s tennis team (17-7, 9-4 ACC) capped off the regular season with a 4-1 victory over in-state rivals Miami (13-9, 6-7 ACC). The Seminoles recorded a seventh consecutive win and earned nine ACC wins for the first time since 2018.
Joshua Dous-Karpenschif and Erik Schiessl cruised away to a trademark Court 2 victory, winning four of the final five games to win 6-3. Dous-Karpenschif and Schiessl completed the regular season with 12 Court 2 wins and five ACC wins.
The senior duo of Alex Bulte and Youcef Rihane found themselves down 4-2 in their early efforts. The pairing came alive and won four consecutive games to snatch the doubles point at 6-4. The Court 1 team clinched their 10th win this spring and won their eighth ranked match of the season.
FSU maintained the momentum moving into singles play, winning four of the six first sets. Miami recorded its first point of the evening after a straight-sets win on Court 3.
Youcef Rihane has been one of the hottest back court players in the nation and built upon his form with a dominant 6-3, 6-2 match to reclaim the lead of the match. Rihane has won five consecutive singles matches and has yet to drop a set in that span.
From the other side of the courts, fellow senior Joshua Dous-Karpenschif wasn’t far behind. The Lyon, France, native worked through the first frame 6-3 before overcoming a second-set deficit and winning the final three games to win his final regular season match in front of the home crowd. Dous-Karpenschif won his 14th match of the season and finished ACC play with six singles wins.
The final point of the night belonged to Erik Schiessl, winning the first set 7-5 before facing a 3-4 second frame scoreline. The sophomore rose to the occasion, winning the final three games to win his 10th singles match of the spring. Schiessl claimed 15 regular season wins in his debut season for the Seminoles.
Bulte, Connel, Dous-Karpenschif, and Rihane made their final regular season appearances at the Speicher Tennis Center. The legendary class all appeared in the program’s first-ever ACC Championship in 2024 before making two NCAA Third Round appearances in the past three seasons. Bulte, Dous-Karpenschif, and Rihane were all named All-Americans in the past year while Connel eclipsed the century mark with over 100 career singles wins in collegiate play.
