The No. 3 Florida State soccer team (8-0-2) heads on the road this week for a pair of top-20 tests. The Noles take on No. 2 Virginia (10-1-1) on Thursday, October 6 at 8 PM on the ACC Network, before heading to No. 17 Notre Dame to take on the Irish (9-2) on Sunday, October 9 at 12 PM on ESPNU.
Florida State is coming off their seventh straight victory on Saturday with a 1-0 win at the University of Miami. The game’s only goal was scored by Heather Payne in the 48th minute on a penalty kick.
SERIES HISTORY VS. VIRGINIA
Thursday’s meeting will be the 39th all-time meeting between Florida State and Virginia in soccer. Virginia leads the all-time series 21-10-8 but the Seminoles are 10-10-7 against Virginia since 2005.
Florida State has outscored Virginia since 2005 (30-27). In the 27 meetings, 21 of them have been decided by one point or ended in a tie. FSU has shut out UVA 10 times in this period.
The two teams have met eight times in the ACC Tournament and three times in the NCAA Tournament since 2005. Since earning their first win over Virginia in the 2011 ACC Tournament FSU is 10-5-3 against UVA, including earning the 2014, 2015 and 2021 ACC Championships. Sunday’s meeting between the Seminoles and the Irish will be the 13th meeting between the two programs. Florida State leads the all-time series 8-4 with three consecutive wins.
FSU is 7-1 against Notre Dame since 2012 and has outscored the Irish 21-6 in the time with five shutouts, including shutouts in each of the last three meetings.

In just over two seasons as Florida State’s starting goalkeeper, Cristina Roque is a combined 31-0-8 and has started in two National Championship games.
In her career she has a 0.52 goals against average, 71 saves, a .772 save percentage and 22 shutouts.
Roque is the NCAA’s active leader in Goals Against Average.
DOMINATING POSSESSION ONCE AGAIN
After possessing the ball for an average of 65.8 percent of every game last season the Noles are back at it again in 2022. FSU has averaged possessing the ball 65.8 percent of the time in 2022.
