people spend less money on football.. Once Fans are getting used to loser team, they would care less, watch less.... I still feel FSU need to make a changing the coaching staff....they need proven DC/O
No next questionEmpty hotel rooms and low business traffic can't be good for the local economy......
Yes but I live in Tallahassee and have season tickets and I feel like it is a chore to go to games. I don’t want to sit in blazing heat to watch us play (and lose to) bad ACC football teams. It not entertaining. Wish they were doing LSU in tally and Baton Rouge. Glad they are brining UGA and Bama here in the future. We need games like thatLots of schools fill the stands during tough seasons

Im in Tallahassee as well and going to the games is more of a chore now, an obligation to the sunk cost of boosters and tickets. I can tell you the combination of COVID and FSU sucking has obviously had a bad effect on everything. In fact COVID has hidden FSU suck effect because there is an expectation of less numbers regardless of FSUs sucsess. The biggest thing FSU could do right now is hire a real big-time football AD.Yes but I live in Tallahassee and have season tickets and I feel like it is a chore to go to games. It's getting a lot more comfortable on the bandwagon these days. More and more room every week.To answer the OP’s question- it has to have had an effect. The stadium was around half full yesterday.
I also live in Tallahassee and, with 4 kids (3 in sports), it is a chore sometimes to make it to a game…especially knowing we’re probably going to lose..but there’s something to be said about loyalty…I’m sticking with these guys…and I’m not even an alum…
TennesseeNebraska may be the only one I can think of.
Michigan, notre dame, Texas, quite a few actually. However with that being said I don’t really blame people for not going to games. Living in Clearwater it’s a all weekend affair to go to one. Florida states problem is there so far away from the metro areas of the state.Name one
Honestly, I couldn't care less about the City of Tallahassee economy. It's not like we get any "traffic support" on gamedays from the local police, and for 30+ years I was shaken down by opportunistic hoteliers. Maybe a nice "dip" will make them realize that they need to be more collaborative with FSU football and its fans. But probably not.Empty hotel rooms and low business traffic can't be good for the local economy......
When I read you live in Clearwater (home of one of my favorite airports) it reminded me if flying into Tallahassee wasn't so expensive, it would create a positive impact to the local economy.Michigan, notre dame, Texas, quite a few actually. Do the math for a hypothetical family of 4:Michigan, notre dame, Texas, quite a few actually. However with that being said I don’t really blame people for not going to games. Yep! I love the ignore feature, don't you?!It's getting a lot more comfortable on the bandwagon these days. More and more room every week.

This. The truth is Federal Covid relief bailed out a lot of businesses that were struggling as a result of the Willie decline. It will be interesting (but not fun) to see what happens now with those. My understanding is that the hospitality sector is still hurting a bit, but thankfully many businesses were able to open back up while other states were still in lockdown, which somewhat hedged the football-related economic hit you'd expect from less people coming to the games. Tallahassee is currently undergoing an economic transition away from sleepy government/college town to a more populous and diverse city. There are both positives and negative aspects of that transition. Tallahassee is losing the southern charm (and natural environment) that many of us love, but is simultaneously less economically vulnerable.Im in Tallahassee as well and going to the games is more of a chore now, an obligation to the sunk cost of boosters and tickets. What else is there?jim n milts doesn’t do breakfast anymore, so there’s that
I felt the same way about magic tickets in orlando. Sounds like going to games for you is a chore no matter if we are winning or losing. I actually enjoyed watching our kids fight back ( the beginning was depressing i agree ) .Yes but I live in Tallahassee and have season tickets and I feel like it is a chore to go to games. ^^^^This. Waiting to turn on Tennessee Street after a game is insanity. Don't understand why the roads cannot be shut down and allow for stadium traffic to exit... as for the hotels.... two night minimum along with prices to get a hotel room that you don't need an asbestos suit to sleep in is nothing short of financial sodomy. It's not like we get any "traffic support" on gamedays from the local police, and for 30+ years I was shaken down by opportunistic hoteliers. Good point. I'm sure they're hurting. Be interesting to see the numbers on the overall losses in hotel revenue, and restaurants. I bet they're sobering.Empty hotel rooms and low business traffic can't be good for the local economy......
Really? I would disagree. Indiana, Rutgers, Illinois, Purdue, Minnesota, Maryland, Northwestern hardly get close to filling their stadiums when they are good let alone when they are going through a rebuild. The top tier teams yes always fill their stadiums but to make a blanket statement like that is not accurate. The entire Big Ten
This is true. But really those businesses can’t staff for full houses anyway. It’s rough economic times either way.Good point. I'm sure they're hurting. Be interesting to see the numbers on the overall losses in hotel revenue, and restaurants. I bet there sobering.
Did you imagine it was anything other than a commercial transaction? I am sorry that you feel so ripped off. Your choice on how you feel though.Honestly, I couldn't care less about the City of Tallahassee economy. It's a big cruel world out there, and what comes around goes around.
