Florida State Women’s Basketball freshman guard Ta’Niya Latson earned ACC Rookie of the Week for the fifth consecutive time, announced by the Atlantic Coast Conference on Monday afternoon.

In just her fifth week of play, Latson is one of only 25 ACC players whom have earned rookie of the week honors at least five times in their freshman seasons. Latson joins the group at the very beginning of her freshman career.

The record for most ACC rookie of the week awards in a single season is nine by Duke’s Elizabeth Marshall in 2011-12 and Wake Forest’s Tracy Connor in 1992-93.

In one game last week vs. Texas Southern, Latson tied her career high with 34 points scored in just under 26 minutes. She shot 12-of-19 from the floor, went 9-of-10 from the free throw line, added five rebounds, two assists and drew eight fouls in the win.

The Miami native became the first Seminole to record three 30-point performances in a single season since Natasha Howard had five 30-point games as a senior in 2013-14.

Latson’s 12 made field goals vs. Texas Southern was already her sixth game this season with 10 or more field goals made. The performance raised her ACC-leading scoring average to 25.5 points per game.

As of Monday, Latson joins only Iowa’s Caitlin Clark among players who rank in the Top 5 nationally in field goals made (fourth), free throws made (fourth) and points per game (fifth).

For the season, Latson is shooting 52.3 percent (101-of-193) from the floor and 44.4 percent (16-of-36) from 3-point range. She has already eclipsed the 100-made field goals mark just 11 games into her career.
