Look. I’m on the train. Love the passion and think it’s been sorely lacking, but this wasn’t a mic drop. This is a coach with his back against the wall.

For all the talk of grit and sacrifice and never quit and discipline and climbing- there has to be some tangible evidence when the lights come on. I know there will be plenty of folks responding to this with “those are different situations, they had less mess, they didn’t have Willie blah blah.”

The truth is I can’t think of a coach (outside of Diaz) in this league that has taken over and does not have a better product on the field. NC State, Vatech, UNC, Wake, UL, Cuse (to an extent) Are they world beaters? No. Are they better. Yes. Do historically bad programs have more to show for their hires than we do? Yes.

Sadly, we can’t bring in the talent and leadership we did while clearing a lot of dead weight and still look this undisciplined and this out performed from a talent standpoint. Spare me the were young and playing with a QB that’s been out of it coming back from injury. Norvell for all his talk and behind the scenes organization is required to show progress. No one is sitting here panicked 0-4 if all of our losses look like ND against ND caliber teams. But that’s not the case. We continue to run out the same product every week under the guise of a bad football team fighting and finding their way. Truthfully, we continue to look lost.

Maybe a win turns the page for us but I’m not convinced. All the passion in the world still has to produce. I’m for him. I like him. I want to believe.

Norvell should be on notice though and that should be the mic dropping.
