Flipping a roster is hard, let alone in a pandemic. But one place Norvell has done a great job is in the RB room. Remember we made a bowl game in 2019?! We played 2 guys — Sheffield & Ward. Both actually played well considering everything. But Norvell built that room almost instantly, adding Corbin, Webb, Toalfili, Wren, & Jakhi. Lost Webb & got DJ. And of course Ward is from the Taggart days.
RB’s the most impressive roster flip in my opinion. But other segments have seen flips. QB, 3 of the 4 guys are his. Besides Pokey & Helton, the entire WR core is Norvell’s. Besides Camm & Rector, I think the TE’s are all Norvell guys. OL is split; DLT, Gibbons, & R. Scott are Norvell’s, but the rest of the starters and contributors (Baveon, Smith, Washington, B. Scott) are Taggart’s & Jimbo’s guys.
DE, 2 starters & 1 key backup are Norvell’s, other backups are Taggart’s. DT is a mix, LB is mostly Taggart’s group (Lundy is the main Norvell player), CB’s are a mix & S is mostly Taggart guys with 1 or 2 Norvell guys.
We need to see more flipping of the roster and certainly hit on a better percentage of transfers. Besides RB & DE, though, we haven’t been incredibly successful with roster management.
