Spoke to a long time Cane season ticket holder and the "rumor" (or perhaps prayer?) is that if FSU blows out Miami, Al Golden is fired and Davis coaches the rest of the season. I find that incredibly hard to believe because Davis is not going to want to coach the rest of the year with those goofball coordinators on the Miami staff. But Cane supporters are concerned about timing because the UVA job will definitely open up at the end of the year and there is talk at VT as well. Both of the Virginia schools, in spite of their current ineptitude, have more money to throw out there. Furthermore, the stadium issue at Miami has gone way beyond just a joke around the water cooler. And to pile on, FSU shows no sign of slowing down and UF will try to capitalize on its recent success. Timing is everything, so they say. How attractive is the Miami job? And Davis has his own history of hiring supporters who got into NCAA trouble in the past.
But will the Cane team rally around their embattled coach when they come to Tallahassee?
I was also amused to read that the Maryland players had a "players only meeting". But Randy Edsall didn't even know about it. Can you spell "mutiny"? Michigan is coming to town tomorrow. Maryland changed the kickoff from 8 pm to noon because of weather - but they probably changed it to screw up the Michigan travel schedule.
