Florida State softball players Kathryn Sandercock and Mack Leonard were named to the Top 50 Watch List for USA Softball’s Collegiate Player of the Year award on Tuesday afternoon.

A D1 Softball Second Team All-American and an NFCA Second Team All-American in 2022, Sandercock looks to finish her illustrious career in style in 2023. Sandercock boasts an impressive 79-8 record in the circle as a Seminole. In 2022, Sandercock went 30-3 with a 1.44 ERA while striking out 159 batters. In 26 starts, Sandercock threw six complete game shutouts and gave up just 40 earned runs in 194.1 innings. Sandercock has put the nation on notice as she was ranked No. 7 in both D1 Softball’s and Extra Inning Softball’s preseason top 100 lists.

In her first season with the Seminoles in 2022, Leonard made a name for herself as the First Team All-ACC honoree started 60 games for the Seminoles. A savvy two-way player, Leonard led the team in batting average (.375) and hits (66) while also making 20 appearances for the Noles in the circle. As the Seminoles’ primary first baseman, Leonard posted a .989 fielding percentage while recording 335 put outs and 10 assists with just four errors. Leonard was named No. 60 on Extra Innings Softball’s preseason top 100 list and No. 84 on D1 Softball’s top 100 list.

The Noles will take JoAnne Graf Field on Saturday, Feb. 4 for the Garnet and Gold Scrimmage and Fan Day. Admission to the scrimmage is free and first pitch is set for 1:45 p.m. The scrimmage will be followed by the First Pitch Party inside the Champions Club. Tickets for the First Pitch Party can be found here. The Seminoles’ regular season begins with the JoAnne Graf Classic on Feb. 9 when the Noles take on Lipscomb at 6 p.m.
