Softball: Garnet and Gold scrimmage notes

FSU softball will hold its Garnet and Gold scrimmage this afternoon. The format is very loose. Runners on first to start each inning. But if they are forced out or tagged out it won't count toward the three outs. They will play up until 3:30 p.m.

Looks like Allison Royalty is warming up in one bullpen. We'll have some updates below this afternoon

Ali DuBois on the mound for the garnet

For the gold:

Devyn Flaherty is leading off the first with Michaela Edenfield starting the inning at first
Flaherty gets an infield hit or fielder's choice
Kalei Harding with a single to shallow CF, scores Edenfield (1-0 Gold)
Katie Dack in the 3 hole

The format is funky. But Gold takes a 2-0 lead in the top of the inning

Royalty strikes out Edenfield with bases loaded
Royalty fields a weak grounder and gets force at home
Royalty gets a pop out to foul territory beyond 3B

Now Muffley caught in a pickle between third and home but she scores on a throwing error by Edenfield

Gold takes a 4-0 lead

Kat Sandercock in to relieve for Garnet. Inherits runners at corners with one out.

Harding hits a scorching liner at 1B Mack Leonard, who gets the unassisted double play to end the inning

Royalty tosses a shutout inning. Not easy when you start an inning with a runner on second. FSU trying some situational aspects of the game.

Gold leads 7-2 in bottom fourth

But a good crowd for fan day

Because of the weird format, including giving teams a fourth out, there's no box score
