The news is a little better on the academic front for football, but it will take awhile to dig out of the hole they have been in.

Academics: FSU football APR improves, still ranks low nationally

I'm sifting through the numbers and will post more information here:

*** For perspective on APR rates and FSU's 956 for last year, as I said in the story that's a nice improvement from the year before but still pretty low. It ranked 12th of 14 teams in the ACC. Clemson leads the conference at 997. Miami had a 987. Also of note: UF had a 978.

*** Here are the multi-year rates for every FSU program (from best to worst):
1,000 -- Women's cross country, women's golf, women's tennis and women's track
997 -- Softball and soccer
995 -- Volleyball and women's beach volleyball
990 -- Men's and women's swimming and diving
988 -- Men's golf
985 -- Men's basketball
979 -- Women's basketball
978 -- Men's track
972 -- Men's cross country
971 -- Baseball
962 -- Men's tennis
942 -- Football

*** FSU men's basketball continues to shine on and off the court. Here are the multi-year numbers for the ACC basketball programs, from first to worst.

UNC -- 971
Ga. Tech -- 970
