There is no national championship awarded by the NCAA. When the top 2 teams as picked by a vote were forced to play each other, it ws an improvement. Then when the top 4 teams as picked by a vote (of now just a few people) was established, it was an improvement again. But there is no true national champion system in place. Could you imagine a 13-0 FSU being left out?? Neither can I, but under this current system, it's possible!
