FINAL: VT 24, FSU 3 -- Quick gamer and box score

Josh Jackson hits Eric Kumah for a 49-yard catch and run. Nice play by Jackson to get away from pressure, and then Kumah broke some tackles on his way to the end zone.
VT 24, FSU 3, 5:11 4th

Cam Akers busted an 85-yard run all the way down to the VT 6. But a no-gain, a four-yard loss on a pass and then a fumble with Cam taking the snap and trying to hand off to Rasul ... ends the scoring threat. We're now under 8 minutes left.
VT 17, FSU 3, 8:00 4th

This is still a game. But barely. FSU defense makes a stand at the goal line after VT got the ball at the FSU 19 after a short punt and a no-call on what should have been running into/roughing the kicker. The offense had -7 yards that quarter.
VT 17, FSU 3, 15:00 4th

Teams exchanging punts. Durden gets his first career sack for FSU. Burns had one on the last possession. Defense is playing well, but the way this offensive line is blocking/performing it might not matter. VT punter keeps pinning Noles deep in own territory. This drive will start at own 12.
VT 17, FSU 3, 6:51 3rd

And the second half starts just how the last one ended. Akers gets tackled for a 5 yard loss, FSU punts three plays later.
VT 17, FSU 3, 13:30 3rd

FSU drove down to the VT 23 and went for it on fourth down. But the pass was batted down at the line. Seminoles have over 250 yards of offense. But only three points. Akers can't get going, Laborn doesn't have a carry, and Patrick only has 5. Offensive line is struggling. Again.
Defense was a lot better after the first two drives.
VT 17, FSU 3, Halftime

Things go from bad to worse. Francois takes a sack at his own 2. Then on fourth down, Logan Tyler gets his punt blocked and returned three yards for a VT touchdown.
VT 17, FSU 3, 3:57 3rd quarter

Looked like Noonie got into the end zone on a screen pass, but he was ruled down at the 1. Taggart tried to snap it quick, but FSU was called for a false start. And FSU had to settle for a 23-yard field three plays later. Taggart was trying to snap it quick, but it sure looked on replay like Murray got in. So it cost Seminoles four points.
VT 10, FSU 3, 7:26 2nd quarter

Gavin can't hold onto a TD pass in the end zone - he bobbled it near the back of the end zone. Then Ricky Aguayo shanks a 32-yard FG attempt.
VT 10, FSU 0, 13:00 2nd quarter

Seminoles on the move. Laborn with a great cut-back run after a catch and then Francois hits Gavin down to the VT 23 as the first quarter ends.

VT 10, FSU 0, End of 1st

After a big-time throw from Francois to Gavin on third and long, Noonie follows with a fumble on a reverse. And VT drives 25 yards into FG range. Seminoles forced first third down and got a break when Hazelton couldn't get his foot down in the end zone.
Field goal is good.
VT 10, FSU 0, 7:52 left

VT goes right down the field and scores. Didn't even face a third down. It was a 10-play, 75-yard drive, finished off with a fade pass to Damon Hazelton over Levonta Taylor.

VT 7, FSU 0

Here we go. Touchback. VT will start at its own 25.

------------------------------

7:45 p.m. The teams have headed back to the locker rooms. We'll have football in about 15 minutes.

7:36 p.m. - Jajuan Williams, Mike Arnold, Cole Minshew, Derrick Kelly, Landon Dickerson, Alec Eberle listed as starters on offense on the video board. Cole Minshew is NOT dressed. And then they are listing every WR on the team right now as "starters" so who knows what the video board presentation even means? On defense, Fred Jones and Wally Aime were listed as starters on the defense.

The two biggest cheers were for Deondre Francois ... and, by far, the biggest was for Willie Taggart.

7:25 p.m. - Stanford Samuels is dressed out. So is Josh Kaindoh. Obviously, no idea at this point how much they'll play. Zaquandre White is not dressed out.

7:18 p.m. - Junior tight end Naseir Upshur is not dressed out. He's in sweats and a jersey. As is freshman defensive end Xavier Peters.

7:12 p.m. - Walk-on Nolan McDonald is taking third-team reps at quarterback. Also, according to the great Ira Schoffel, Deondre Francois had a HUGE smile on his face when he came out for pregame warmups.

6:35 p.m. -- Just had a little trash talk on the field between a few FSU guys and VT guys, who had drifted over to the Seminoles' side of the field in warmups. Looked like Marvin Wilson, Nyqwan Murray, Cam Akers and Tamorrion Terry were the main ones telling them to take it back to the other side. VT coaches got their guys back.

6:30 p.m. -- A few players have taken the field for pregame warmups. Small number of fans have made their way into the stadium. The Sod Talk is scheduled to start now outside the stadium:

-----------------------

Hey folks. We're here at Doak for FSU vs. Va. Tech.

If you didn't see, they cancelled the Legacy Walk before the game due to the threat of lightning.

We'll have updates shortly as the players take the field for warmups.
