Just checking in ... everyone understands that TV revenue is not the only revenue stream, right?

Depending on the source, FSU has had a total athletics budget of somewhere between $125 million and $150 million at various points over the past few years. We've typically had a total athletics budget in the top-15 of schools around the nation.

TV revenue per the schools conference deal has been one of the most important, if not the most important, of all of the various revenue streams.

But it hasn't been the only one. Not hardly. FSU has gotten ... what ... mid-$30 million in revenue from the ACC's TV deal, right? That means that about $90-$120 million (depending on the source, all-in revenue, and the year) has come from other streams.

I only point this out because I often laugh out loud when I hear the utter silliness of stuff like ... "Vanderbilt and Mississippi State have more money than us" ... "Rutgers and Indiana have more money than us". That's always been silly as hell. It's like folks don't actually realize that there is much more money that comes in than just TV revenue.

Now ... with all of that said ... we are entering a new world where the B1G and SEC are likely to have deals that will be worth more than a billion dollars each year and which will pay their members up to $100 million or more each year. This is a huge game changer and will mean that even though a school like Mississippi State might only have $50-$60 million from their other sources they can still have a total athletic budget of north of $150 million now. And schools like Texas and Ohio State while were already over $200 million all-in in athletic budgets each year could now wind up well over $250 million in total athletics budget.

We all know that we need to wind up in either of the two big superconferences when the music stops. We need to be able to go from the neighborhood of $150 million to around $200 million. We can't fall $50-$70 million per year behind the likes of Florida, Auburn, UGA, Bama and LSU and other schools with whom we aim to compete in the South.
