FSU football coach Mike Norvell and his coordinators (Fuller, Atkins and Papuchis) are going to speak with reporters shortly after today's first spring scrimmage.

Austin will begin posting updates right here when it begins (around 12:30 p.m.), Aslan will have videos after, and then will have complete stories coming.

The scrimmage is not open to the media, however.

----------------------

Now it's 1:00 p.m. here, a little delay but it looks like we're close to getting started now.

Norvell is up first. Good day, good first scrimmage. Said he saw a good response from the defense today.

Said it was good to see where guys are without coaches on the field right next to the players. Mentioned that they want to push the tempo more than they did today. Said this upcoming week is a very important week.

On the QBs. "I thought they did really well." Jordan Travis is playing with a lot of confidence. Said there were from positive steps from him.

Norvell said he really, really likes what he's seeing out of Tate Rodemaker. Thought he had another really good day today. First play was a TD. Great eyes today.

On A.J. Duffy, for his first scrimmage it was 'really impressive." Somebody that doesn't act like a freshman. Still has a lot of things to clean up, but Norvell likes his mentality and his presence.

On the defense, said they created some tackles for loss. Praised Dennis Briggs and others. Really good flashes from young players. Norvell likes how the LB group is coming along. Omar Graham is really pushing, Stephen Dix and Cortez Andrews, too. Good to see guys compete.

Said the excitement, juice and energy from young guys was there. They need the game to slow down some for them.

On newcomers who flashed, mentioned RB Trey Benson, WR Mycah Pittman. Not a newcomer, but praised RB C.J. Campbell.

At DE, Norvell said Patrick Payton flashed, Byron Turner. Said its a talented group of guys.

On RB Trey Benson, Norvell said its been impressive to watch him. Built his confidence throughout the first few weeks of spring. You see the confidence in how he's running. Power on the goal line and speed in the open field. Likes what he's doing.

On RB Lawrance Toafili had some big plays today, and Norvell said "he's a different player" right now and has improved physically.

On A.J. Duffy, said he embraces challenge and that is what you want as a QB. Mental preparation, he doesn't act like a freshman at all. His control of the offense is really, really good.

Norvell brought up DB Renardo Green, said he's really coming into his own. Also said freshmen Sam McCall and Azareye'h Thomas made big plays today.

-------------------------

Next up is DC Adam Fuller.

On competition at corner, said they're rotating a bunch of guys in right now. Mentioned Omarion Cooper as being very consistent. Said today that freshmen Thomas and McCall were running more with the second team.

On DE Jared Verse, Fuller said he's one of the fastest DL he's ever coached. He's exactly who they thought he was. Very good so far and has a high motor.

On LB Tatum Bethune, said he belongs at this level. Smart, physical, loves the process of getting better. Has high expectations for himself.

On creating pressure, DTs: Said Robert Cooper and Fabien Lovett didn't play "a whole lot," to get other guys more snaps. Said Odell and Papuchis do an outstanding job and the kid believe in what they're doing right now. Praised Patrick Payton, Derrick McLendon.

On DB Renardo Green, said he's always been someone who is going to put work in and he has tools. Play is starting to be more consistent. He's looked comfortable at corner.

------------------------

Next up is OC Alex Atkins.

Said the defense got after them pretty good there early. But after that he liked the composure, nobody on offense really got down or anything. Always good to see the response.

On RB Trey Benson, said he's ready to go. Benson is focused and Atkins is liking the progression that he's seeing.

On OL Kanaya Charlton and OL Daughtry Richardson. Said they put them in challenging situations. Can't wait to watch them grow and develop.

On tempo and playing faster. Just have to stress it with getting set before the play. That comes from confidence and communication. More confidence, the faster you play.

On QB Jordan Travis, said he's trusting the pocket. Said guys' eyes light up when he walks in the huddle. Knowledge of the offense, he can check to anything that he wants to check to. He's getting a lot better.
