Basically, they are suggesting the NFL may need to start paying players to attend the draft show. Since everyone else there is paid, it's basically a continuation of exploitation of college players.
The NFL has sold the exposure & experience to the players as compensation enough. But if players like Jameis are deciding not to attend, what's the point of a city to host? They lose their appeal if the stars stay home.
