Bob McGinn spoke with one NFL scout who called FSU DL Mario Edwards Jr. a "phenomenal athlete."
"He's similar to Sheldon Richardson coming out from a measurable standpoint. He ran better, he's taller, his arm length was a little better," the scout said. We disagree with the statement that Edwards is a great athlete, at least from a testing standpoint. Even after dropping somewhere between 20 to 30 pounds, Edwards tested in the 45th percentile for edge rushers in the NFL per SPARQ. Average is not bad, but average is not "phenomenal." Some teams could ask the 279 pounder to add weight and move back inside.
It will be interesting to see how this plays out.
