Pet Peeves - Things that Annoy You

Changing the subject…
One of my “annoyances” is when I get a renewal notice from a service or a company that my new “monthly charge” will be this much and I have to do the dance with them saying I’m canceling. Then I’m transferred to some overseas person who has GREAT news! We have a special rate for the next year blah blah blah.
Sirius XM is one of the worst. And I had to go through the hassle just today with the Wall Street Journal.
I either end up with my continuing “low rate” or even less. 🙄

With this board and the small sample size can we all agree whichever opinion we have that the issue is still unknown even though some facts have been found.

How about when you get postcards in the mail stating your car warranty renewal is up? 😞

Do you ever get a flu shot?

Did you ask your doctor about the covid vaccine?

Just curious. :)

No and no!

For what it’s worth I am a healthy man

I am not a person who needs to run to a doctor over every lil bump or hiccup I am bothered by

I am a man of faith Brian
I don’t drink alcohol, do drugs of any kind, smoke tobacco etc

I don’t need to be told by a doctor who most likely owns stocks in the companies making the vaccines, that I need to be vaxxed twice and take boosters to infinity

I will not take a flu shot

I have had the polio and measles vaccines when I was young, and neither polio or the measles are man made

Covid is

If Covid or flu kills me some day I promise not to blame anyone, ok

What's the best deal you have been able to get with Sirius if you don't mind me asking?

OK. :)

I am surprised you don't drink alcohol. Like, never?

Getting away from the vax discussion.......

It almost always get me upset when a doctor's office overbooks and makes you wait well after your appointment time to be seen. I say almost because I acknowledge that there are times when certain doctors have emergencies they have to get to but that rarely applies to your GP.

It is also their dismissive attitude that irks me. Many have no respect for your time.

A small pet peeve, but whenever you buy something from a website, your email gets bombarded with spam mail from that website.. all you have to do is unsubscribe but I feel like I always wait a few weeks of getting the emails before I do so

That's why you should see a nurse practitioner!:D

I do within the GP practice. On my last visit, my appointment was at 1:15. There was one person sitting in the waiting room and one person checking in when I got there at 1:10. I watched three people leave and both of those ahead of me go back. I finally got called back around 1:40. At 2:00, after sitting in the examining room for another 20 minutes, I walked to the reception desk to ask if I had been forgotten. There was not another patient in sight in the back or in the waiting room. The lady at the desk told me I was next (no kidding. I was the only one there) and to go ahead and go back to the room. A few minutes later the APRN came in. There was no explanation or apology for being 50 minutes late. Yes, I was pissed.

I almost always see the PA or NP if I need to go to the Doctor. If I get to a situation where I do need a Doc it’s going to be a specialist like my ENT or a Gynecologist for issues at the “other end of the building”, but generally I’m in decent health and just get routine checkups, knock on wood.

One thing that really peeves me is how many stores want you to give them your email address and/or phone number so they can spam you to death.

I bought a pair of shoes a few years ago and the clerk tried to brow beat me into giving her my email address. I'm thinking, "I'm buying a pair of shoes, not a car."

It was a battle so I held strong and didn't.

$9 a month. Which is very much worth it. When I’m traveling on I-10 between Jax and Tally there are still “dead zones” for FM listening and Sirius eliminates that.
I just did the dance with them a couple of weeks ago. $6 a month for 12 months. They didn't even put up a fight, they just said OK. Same deal that I had before. $7.78 when they add on all the taxes and fees.

We just got $4.99 a month for 12 months. I think it was a link I found online. I enjoy the simplicity of it. No commercials and a ton of choices.

People in front of me in the left turn lane at an intersection who don't go at the green arrow should be boiled alive in llama excrement.

If you’re the first car in the turn lane you have a DUTY to be ready to get moving…but you also need to have a sense of self preservation to make sure some idiot is not determined to run that yellow light that turned red and you get T-boned.

The first car, yes... But when you're say fourth in line and the drivers of cars two and three are off in la la land (or texting) and you can't make the light as a result, then you wind up having to sit at the light for another five minutes because of their ineptitude. 😡

And everyone has the duty to keep up with the car ahead of them so more cars can get through the green arrow.

Another huge pet peeve:

Motorcyclists that weave in and out of traffic speeding.

I see many of them on the highway. I'll be driving with my window down and they'll zoom by going 20 MPH over the speed limit.

Just brutal.

So are judgmental jerks.
Some people, despite ample information out there, will believe the official narrative is always the only truth out there. It's a general lack of curiosity and laziness. If it is important to you, look at the information/data out there (we do live in the internet age) and come to your own decision based on the information/data. Science/information marches on and one should be flexible enough psychologically/intellectually to march along with it. I have found that in my life I have been forced to change my positions on many things as we know more about them or science moves forward.

Connect your cell phone to your car and if your car is too old for that (over a dozen years old) then you’re a poor so get off these boards and get a second job and a better car. 🤯
There are connections that fit into a cigarette lighter that allows one to connect cell phones to older cars. My son drives an older car and uses it. The second part of your statement is just silly and judgmental.............who cares what car someone drives.

Okay. I’m going to avoid being silly and judgmental…so no one calls me silly and judgmental.

That is especially true down here; seen way too many old people who shouldn't be driving shooting through a yellow that had turned red before they even got to it.

It nearly happened to me two weeks ago and I would not be here.
Some old dude in a pickup was yapping at his passenger sailed right through a red light and if I had not slammed on my brakes in time he would have killed me even with my side air bags. Then he had the nerve to shake his fist at me. You can’t yell or respond because so many crazies these days might shoot you. So you get away from them and then you start cussing to yourself. 😡😤

Wow. Brutal. Glad you're safe.

Last month, I was sitting at a red light that turned green and a youngish guy in a SUV completely ran a red light. He didn't see it.

His window was down and I held down my horn at him. So did the 2 cars to my left.

He looked shocked.

Dang. I got taken.
I had free for a year after I bought my last car, once it ran out they sent a renewal for 9.99 a month. I called to cancel and they said they could go to 6.99, I said no thanks and they said free for another 6 months then 4.99 a month after that if I keep it one more year. So essentially I got it for around 2.50 a month.

I would add tipping to my list… I swear I’m tipping for things that I didn’t years ago.. or at least being asked to

Went to a MLB game the other day.. went to a concession stand for a slice of pizza and here’s what played out.

Wait in line for my turn, grab a pre packaged slice myself, grab a water out of the cooler myself.. pay with a card myself on a touch screen.. and on the screen it asks how much I want to tip..

Tip for what? For having a slice already pre made? Craziness
It’s out of control. My gf and I went to the Rays game on Sat. Got two double liquor drinks which came out to $54 😂. She flips the screen around and the tip options are 18%, 20, and 22. So you expect a $10 tip for making two basic mixed drinks? Gtfo. I gave her $4. But you have to type that in, it’s not a pre option. I swear for the longest time the standard was $1 a drink or maybe $2 if it’s a nicer place or fancy drink. Now they want to be tipped as well as a server who spends 1-2hrs with a customer.

Lol what is he claiming to be an expert in?

All I see is someone giving his opinion. Or another viewpoint.

I might have missed something though. So feel free to point out where or what he claims expertise in
Brian doesn't like opinions that don't align with his so he attacks the person or the source. Apparently you have to be a PhD to give an opinion on any subject.

Well they’re slowly self destructing so that might be less of a problem over time. The sad thing is that they tend to take a few with them when they go.
More people are killed to day under the influence of a cell phone rather than under the influence of alcohol.

Blow hard know it alls chap my booty. Also, slow check out lines, and one bank teller on Friday afternoon paydays for your drive through quagmire service. I grew a beard in the last bank line. And now, Wally has two cashiers on Saturday; the busiest day of the week; and the rest are self checkouts. Sam Walton is turning over in his grave.
