Just wrapped at the final practice availability of the regular season (CRAZY). Some updates:

  • Mike Norvell made it clear that he expects both Mycah Pittman and Johnny Wilson to be available this weekend. Pittman suffered a first-quarter injury and didn't return to the Louisiana game and Wilson played minimal reps against Ragin' Cajuns. Both practiced this week (Pittman even returned some punts) and neither of them appeared limited. Offensive lineman Darius Washington also practiced this week after picking up an injury fairly early in the Louisiana game.
  • Offensive lineman Bless Harris, who has missed the last 11 games after suffering what was deemed a season-ending injury vs. Duquesne, was in full pads this week and got a little bit of work. Asked about the possibility of Harris being able to practice during bowl season and potentially even play in that game, Norvell said, "He's going through his rehabilitation process. We're not sure on the clearance of all those things. We'll see how that goes."
  • FSU's offense was tasked with a situational drill where it took over at its own 25-yard line with 53 seconds left in the first team period of Tuesday's practice. The offense had some success through the air as Jordan Travis hit Camren McDonald on the sideline on the first play and then moved out near midfield on a first-down throw to Ontaria Wilson. After a few incompletions, the offense picked up a first down on third and 10 with a pass over the middle to Malik McClain, who got out of bounds at the opponent's 38 with 27 seconds left. From there, FSU's offense couldn't pick up another first down and had to settle for a field goal attempt after a throwaway from Travis on third down. Ryan Fitzgerald shanked a 47-yard attempt and the offense came up empty despite a promising drive.
  • AJ Duffy had a few nice throws on the day. He hit one in 1-on-1s downfield and then hit Malik McClain in stride for a beautiful deep touchdown pass against the scout team. I thought there could be something to refreshing Duffy a bit with a chance to play in his first real game in almost two months last week and his showing in practice bears that theory out.
  • In 1-on-1s, there was some healthy back and forth between the receivers and the defensive backs. Tight end Brian Courtney had an impressive curl route where he made a contested catch through some contact. Ja'Khi Douglas used his speed to blow by Greedy Vance and get open in space for a downfield catch. On the other side, Renardo Green had an impressive pass breakup when covering Deuce Spann downfield and Jarrian Jones had a pass breakup in the end zone to deny a touchdown when going up against Ontaria Wilson.
