Not Karen or JC - but for the tradesmen. How difficult is it to replace a section of the fascia and soffit? A section on the front of the house rotted because of bad gutter.

Same situation here, so definitely interested in the responses.

One thing I have learned is that the best way to learn about repairing or replacing things is to Youtube that junk. Somebody on Youtube has almost always posted something similar to what you need to know.

Soffit and fascia are typically easy repairs and typically wouldn't require any additional work other than taking down and putting back the gutters. Of course, this could vary depending upon the style of home and other design factors, but these are not high dollar repairs.

It's not hard if you have the proper tools. If your fascia is wrapped in metal, you'll need a break if it doesn't come down perfectly (it never does). If it's just wood for wood, it's not difficult if you have some kind of scaffolding to stand on. Just off a ladder, it's a pain.

Most fascia is just simply a 1x6 or 1x8. Take down the rot and tack a new one up. Soffit can be replaced with 1/4 or 1/2 inch plywood. Shouldn’t be difficult at all
