Just wanted to share my thoughts on Chubba entering the portal.
It obviously isn’t great from a depth standpoint. FSU is down to 3 scholarship QBs now, but I would say this — walk-on Gino English is better than some scholarship QBs FSU has had through the years.
As for Chubba, from what we hear, this really just came down to him wanting to be a starting quarterback, and he thinks he’ll have a better chance of doing that elsewhere. That’s kind of how it works in college football these days.
I will say this … and it’s not to dog the kid … but I don’t know anyone who has been watching practices who thought he was the long-term answer. He’s a good athlete with a decent arm, but doesn’t seem to see the field great and hasn’t been great about taking care of the ball.
That said, definitely wish him the best. Hopefully he kills it wherever he goes. He seemed to be well-liked etc. But it never seemed to be a perfect fit here.
