Watched the game again this morning. Here’s a few things that just stood out:
Man our wrs block their arse off. Not sure if Dugans gets the credit, but it’s a night and day change and they have all become so physical. This is a big reason why we have so many big plays in the run game. Very excited to see McClain, Poitier, Wilson, and Pittman next year hopefully.
Travis is so talented. Good to finally see him use his legs and Norvell call some qb run game. It wasn’t his best night throwing the ball, but also had several drops by guys. However, he flat out was the reason we won this game.
Tre Benson is just special. He literally has all the tools. Vision, speed, and so strong. He literally just throws people off him.
I just can’t believe how far our OL has come in a year. Atkins has done the best coaching job in the country imho.
‘LBs had a bad, bad night. So many missed tackles, poor angles, busted assignments.
DEs jumped inside and gave up the edge way too many times. When they did set the edge, the LBs didn’t scrape or if they did missed the tackle.
Not having Dent hurt. We had to flip our safeties and put Robinson at boundry which isn’t his ideal position. He’s better at field safety because he’s so good in the run game and not the cover guy that Dent is. Brown started at field and we wasn’t able to help in the run game like Robison. However, he made a couple great plays in the passing game. Guy can flat out cover some ground. He did have a bust on the second turds td but all in all played decent.
Fuller made a great adjustment putting Vance at nickel and he did a much better job on 1. after halftime and our LBs played much better, but Napier changed scheme in the 4th qtr and got us on off tackle plays and one where we weren’t even set.
The very encouraging thing is that’s a game we wouldn’t have won last year. These guys now believe they are going to win and they made the plays that were needed to win the game. Beating the turds always feel good. We are going to be VERY dangerous in our bowl game with the additional practices. I truly believe if Travis comes back we will win the acc next year. So proud and very excited to see the upcoming journey!
