fwiw, her husband is part of the ownership group buying the Atlanta Hawks. $800 million. group is led by a bilionaire from L.A., and Blakely's husband likely will only have a small piece.

If The Boosters have an ounce of common sense they will get her to donate the cash for the two biggest/best HD Video Screens that any stadium in the country will have and they can call it SpanxxVision
Supposedly she hates football or the football team in general..................I wonder what the back story is
Giant tease that one of our richest alumna isn't a football fan. Heck I'm not even sure if she's donated to the academics either. Kinda irritating as I fully expect to donate large sums to FSU when my business takes off.Supposedly she hates football or the football team in general..................I wonder what the back story is

If I do I will know who to callthink you will need a GIS analyst?
Why is it irritating when grads who may or may not have money refuse to donate large sums of money to FSU? This has been the problem that many of our former athletes have with FSU as they get hounded and are expected to donate. If Blakely wants to donate, that's fine with me. If she doesn't want to donate, that is fine as well and I would never think any less of her.Giant tease that one of our richest alumna isn't a football fan. How is it not irritating? She is a billionaire... Do you think she really needs all of that money for herself? She could do huge things for the school, yet she has no desire to help her alma mater... For the record, this post might make sound like a socialist, but I'm actually a Libertarian, I believe people should be able to make as much money as they can and donate it as they see fit. The frustrating part is that a Florida State Alumnus does not have the desire to give back to FSU. Hopefully she gives to other worthy causes, or maybe she's just totally greedy, who knows...Why is it irritating when grads who may or may not have money refuse to donate large sums of money to FSU? Not true Greg. I believe I know what happened, and I have an idea who is trying to cover themselves by blaming the Boosters. Trust me: the Boosters organization is by far the strongest and best fundraising operation at FSU.Real story is Boosters reached out to give out to Athletics without clearing it with anyone. She got pissed. The President needed to call to ask her to give back to the University not just sports. Blew huge opportunity because we don't don't due this stuff well.
Oh look, it's this thread ... again. Jealousy is not a good color on you guys.
I don't think it's jealousy, more frustration and confusion... at least from me.Oh look, it's this thread ... again. Jealousy is not a good color on you guys.
It is but has had a history of not working with university over the years. It is why Barron restructured some things. Too often fsu fundraising arms competed against each other instead of working with each otherNot true Greg. In 2006 Blakely launched the Sara Blakely Foundation to help women through education and entrepreneurial training.
Since its launch, The Sara Blakely Foundation has funded scholarships for young women at the Community and Individual Development Association City Campus in South Africa and Blakely appeared on The Oprah Winfrey Show in 2006, donating $1 million to the Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy for Girls.
Maybe there is no one to be blamed. It could be that she did not particularly enjoy her time at FSU. Who knows? In the alternative, maybe she does not view FSU as "needing" anything. Everyone is wired differently, and people with tons of money are frequently wired in ways that the rest of us cannot easily understand. You have to respect the mindset of each person.....FSU obviously can't "make" anyone donate anything.
Most successful businesswomen are feminist in the worst kind of way. I know a few of them, very annoying.sounds discriminatory.
maybe she doesn't donate to football because no women play football?
She doesn't have to give diddley squat. She paid her tuition and that was the deal.
Maybe she decided there are more important things going on in the world that need financial support over FSU Athletics.
I doubt the boosters messed up anything but if she really didn't donate because they didn't go through the "proper channels" or approach her exactly how she wanted then she probably wasn't going to give to FSU anyways.
