Three members of Florida State’s top-10 ranked Women’s Golf team – Alice Hodge, Kaylah Williams and Lottie Woad have been named to the 2023 All-ACC Academic Women’s Golf team. For Hodge, it marks the third consecutive year she has been named to the team, which makes her one of 10 players in Florida State history to be named as one of the top scholars in the nation’s top conference for women’s golf three or more times during her career. It marks the first time both Williams and Woad have been named to the prestigious team.
The selections of Hodge, Williams and Woad marks the ninth consecutive season that at least two Seminoles have been named to the All-ACC Academic Women’s Golf Team.
“As competitive as this conference is on the golf course, its players are even more competitive in the classroom,” said Head Coach Amy Bond. “We are proud of Alice, Kaylah, and Lottie and for the academic success of all of our players. Performing well in the classroom and on the course are the two most important aspects of being a student-athlete. When you come to Florida State, you have all the tools you need to earn your degree and compete for national championships. That’s who we are; that’s who we will always be at Florida State.”
Hodge, who is nearing completion of her degree in Finance from Florida State University, holds a cumulative GPA of 3.893. She has been named to the FSU Academic President’s List twice, and to the FSU Academic Dean’s list four times in the first three years of her career. Earlier this spring, she was named to the At-Large Academic All-District team by the College Sports Communicators.
”The most important part of being successful academically for me is staying organized and keeping up with assignments,” said Hodge. “I also try to take as many in-person classes as I can rather than online classes. I always find that good teachers help me to better understand the material. I take a lot of pride in my schoolwork and grades and always strive to put my best effort forwards.”
Hodge played in each of the Seminoles’ 11 events, including the ACC Championship, the NCAA Raleigh Regional and the NCAA Championship Finals.
Williams, who was named to the Academic All-District At-Large team by the College Sports Communicators earlier this spring, earned a 3.692 GPA during the spring semester and holds a 3.843 GPA for her career as a Seminole student-athlete.
Williams played in eight of Florida State’s 11 events as a sophomore, and earned a stroke average of 75.79. She finished in a tie for sixth place at the Florida State Match Up during the spring to earn her best finish of her career and played in the ACC Championship, the NCAA Raleigh Regional Championship and the NCAA Championships Finals. Williams helped the Seminoles into match play at the NCAA Finals for the second consecutive season.
Williams has earned academic Dean’s List honors three times and academic President’s List honors once during the first four semesters of her career as a Seminole.
Woad enjoyed a spectacular year as a freshman as an academic star and an All-American on the course. She earned a 3.55 cumulative grade point average and eight top 10 finishes in the first 11 events of her Florida State playing career. Woad won two individual championships – at the Ivy Intercollegiate and the Florida State Match Up – and was named as a First-Team All-American by the WGCA. She was named as the National Freshman of the Year (co) by the WGCA.
A total of 29 different Seminoles have been named to the All-ACC Academic Women’s Golf team a total of 56 times since the team was established in 2006.
