A large percentage of the first half of practice was fundamentals. Lots of position drills. So there wasn't much to update there. Then there was a good bit of 1-on-1s, 7-on-7s and 11-on-11s.
* While the receivers came back and had a pretty nice day in 1-on-1s yesterday, the DBs got the best of it again today. Jarques McClellion got things started with a nice INT on a pass intended for Keyshawn. Broke on an underneath pass and just took it away.
* Burrell hauled in a nice deep pass from Rodemaker after getting past Knowles. Knowles had a good day again, but Burrell got him on that one.
In 11-on-11s, it was a struggle again for the offense because of OL issues, but here are some highlights ...
* Most of the passes completed in 7-on-7 and 11-on-11 were short routes.
* Travis had one really nice play where he avoided pressure, stepped up in the pocket, rolled to his left and made a nice pass to Ja'Khi Douglas for like 10 yards.
* Treshaun Ward, Toafili and Corbin had a few nice runs, but they also got stuff plenty at the line.
* Maurice Smith had some issues with low snaps today, which didn't help. He and Baveon both had snap issues yesterday.
* Freshman CB Hunter Washington had a couple of nice pass breakups
* Knowles had a nice breakup on a pass to Burrell over the middle. He hit him pretty good to dislodge the ball when it arrived. He also nearly had an INT.
* Freshman Shyheim Brown had a very nice PBU on the run. He continues to flash.
The offense had a little success in red zone
* Travis hit Corbin for a TD on a nice little backshoulder throw. He then hit TE Jackson West for a score. His next pass was intended for Parchment but broken up by Knowles
* Rodemaker connected with Corey Wren on a TD pass, but his other two plays in that series were unsuccessful.
They then went back to 11-on-11 in the normal field ...
* Travis connected with TE Preston Daniel on a nice pass for about 15
* Purdy had a nice pass to Kentron Poitier for a good gain
* Milton threw a pretty deep ball to Burrell, but Burrell couldn't come down with it.
* Hunter Washington had a couple more nice plays in pass coverage and coming up on the run.
* Sheffield and D.J. Williams had a couple of nice runs, including one where Williams took a zone-read type handoff from Travis and picked up about 15
* One of the best plays of the day came on a pass from Purdy to Ja'Khi Douglas. Douglas got free in the corner of the end zone, Purdy floated it out maybe a little too far, and Douglas tip-toed in with both feet to make the catch. It was a nice play, which Douglas needed because he has dropped too many balls.
* Travis also had a nice TD pass to TE Preston Daniel. Rolled to his right and threw a little across his body to make a strong throw.
* Purdy also had a TD throw to Jackson West.

OK. We just got back to the hotel.
Video interviews with Norvell and players is coming shortly (Milton, Travis and Cooper). Then Aslan will have highlights. Followed by story and observations.
Practice was pretty rough. Coaches were trying to turn up the intensity, the play wasn't very good, players' frustrations boiled over a few times.
Norvell talked afterward about this being a learning experience. A big part of the reason he wanted to take this trip was to see how they handled adversity ... preparing for when things don't go well and you're out of your comfort zone ... and some guys didn't handle it well at all. But he thinks they will grow from it.
