Here’s some quick hitters from what HC Mike Norvell had to say after practice.
First day in pads, really liked the energy that the guys came out with. Said it was a competitive practice. Said the physicality showed up. All in all had a good tempo, not great, but good. Want to push the tempo throughout practice.
Norvell said they want to play with pace and try to teach that during Tour of Duty, but with practice and physicality there is a different sense of emotion that arises. Said he loved how the 23 newcomers responded today. Guys are taking the coaching really well.
Norvell said he likes the defensive front, likes that group. Mentioned DL Daniel Lyons, Bishop Thomas, and Jared Verse. Also said LB Tatum Bethune had a couple of really good plays.
One the OL, Norvell mentioned C Kayden Lyles and T Bless Harris, likes what those guys are doing.
On RB Treshaun Ward, Norvell said he had a couple of really nice runs today. You can see him trying to take his game to the next level. Said RB Lawrance Toafili is playing with confidence. Likes the RB group.
Norvell said its good to see the competition at all spots and guys embracing the competition, Even for players who have started a lot of games, nothing is guaranteed.
