Here are some notes and observations from practice.

Jordan led the offense during the two-minute portion at the start of practice. The best play during that portion was an interception by Kevin Knowles. It wasn't a terrible pass, but Knowles jumped the route and beat the receiver to the ball. Knowles later had a nice interception against the scout team.

The team then went outside and got some scout-team work and position drills.

When they came back together for 11-on-11, Travis had a couple of good plays -- an improvised run and a pass to Treshaun Ward that went for a solid gain. He later hit another pass to D.J. Williams that went for a big gain, but a few other times he either got pressured and had to throw it away or got sacked by quick pressure.

Tate Rodemaker had a series too and had a nice throw to Darion Williamson. One of his other passes got broken up by Meiko Dotson, and Jashaun Corbin broke a nice run.

On their goal-line play, Travis hit Cam McDonald for a touchdown on a well-designed play. The pass rush was about to get to Travis when he threw it, and the defense thought they got there before the throw. But the offensive players were all celebrating. One of the defensive guys yells: "I didn't know you all celebrated sacks." ... It was pretty funny.

The team then worked on a lot of special teams.

During 1-on-1 drills, the WRs and TEs had a really good day ... Pokey had a really nice catch on Meiko, Kentron Poitier had a big-time catch in the red zone, Jordan Young and Markeston Douglas and Koby Gross had good catches ... Jordan Wilson had a very nice catch in red zone. ... A DB wearing 12 got a pick, and I think it was Demorie Tate, but sometimes it's hard to tell with scout team numbers ...

Then the rest of the day was mostly scout team work.

Austin will come back soon and post some wrapups of the interviews.

Norvell once again sees the offense playing well. Good response out of Jordan Travis following the bout with illness last week. Definitely thinks crowd, atmosphere will play a factor...says there will be swings.

Norvell said today was a spirited day today. Today was a big 3rd/4th down and situational day. Said Miami presents a challenge in those situations.

Reiterated this has been one of the better weeks for the offense in practice.

Said he loves the preparation and emotion of a rivalry game. Said there will be emotional swings Saturday, need to focus on response to those emotions.

On playing in Doak and the rivalry game. Said the Notre Dame game was "unreal." They need that crowd Saturday to be a big impact and to honor the seniors that they have.

C Maurice Smith says he's on radio silence with any friends on the Miami team. Said Miami week isn't too different, just a big time game.

Said Miami is a game to remember.

QB Jordan Travis says it "sucks" to have missed last week. Happy to be back out there with his teammates. It's just another week -- although he dreamed of playing in this game growing up.

Said Miami is a great team with athletes all over the field. But said it is about them, not the opponent. Travis said they have three more games this year to keep growing, hopefully four (if FSU made a bowl).
