Did we make a change?

The Pitt linebackers were stepping up filling the gaps to stop the run. Short passes over the middle were open all day long. We kept trying to run to set up deep throws that weren’t working. In the second half when we finally ran a couple of passes over the middle, not only did we score but it made the linebackers drop back instead of filling the run gaps. We then ran for a long TD. What took so long and why did we go right back to the original plan after we scored two touchdowns? We also tried some unnecessary trick plays that failed.

It was almost like we had a guest play caller for all but two drives in the second half. We won but it wasn’t pretty. Hopefully after the coaches watch the film they will figure it out because others will definitely try it on us. Pitt appeared significantly overmatched but they made a game of it.
