Twenty years ago today the Noles welcomed the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets to Tallahassee for Homecoming.
FSU wide receiver Wayne Messam was Homecoming Chief with Princess Cheryl Bickert, both of which had been paired together.
Wayne Messam was called "Mr. Consistent" by the coaching staff. Not only was he a WR and Homecoming Chief, he was also Student Body Vice President. Unfortunately, a shoulder injury sidelined him for several games including the GT Homecoming game where he found out at halftime he had been voted as the Chief.
Today, Messam is known as Mayor Wayne Messam in Miramar, FL.

Georgia Tech had RB CJ Williams who was leading the ACC in rushing. The FSU defense held the GT offense to 131 yards and Williams to 31 yards and without a score while FSU's Warrick Dunn totaled 114 yards and a TD run.
Todd Rebol (featured on the game day cover above) led the defense with 10 tackles, including 2 for loss, one sack and forced a fumble.
Seven Noles recorded a tackle for loss and Reinard Wilson also recorded a sack. Andre Wadsworth and Daryl Bush both recovered fumbles.
The 42-10 beatdown was led by FSU QB Danny Kannell who broke his own record of 40 completed passes against the gators the previous year with a day of 41 completions against GT. Danny finished 41/51 (80.4%) for 302 yards and 4 touchdowns.
Andre Cooper hangs on to the ball against GT. He led WRs this day with 10 catches for 103 yards & 2 TD
This was the last game of FSU's record streak of wins in the ACC. The Noles lost their first ACC game to Virginia in their next game. It is a streak we will tie with a win this weekend, conveniently against GT once again by coincidence.
