Is this the greatest FSU team to not win a title?
I honestly believe FSU would have beaten both Nebraska or Michigan in 1997. Freaking Samari Rolle tripping over his own two feet with us being only 2 minutes away from being undefeated. That team was absolutely ridiculous. Allowed a nations best 1.5 yards per carry and also had a top 5 offense. Busby was solid, Weinke and Kendra were his backups, and we had weapons like Peter Warrick, EG Green, Travis Minor, Lavernous Coles, Ron Dugans, Snoop Minnis, Khalid Abdullah, Melvin Pearsall, etc.
The defense is what made that teams special though. Andre Wadsworth, Greg Spires, Corey Simon, Jamal Reynolds, Tony Bryant, Julian Pittman, Larry Smith, David Warren, Roland Seymour, Sam Cowart, Daryl Bush, Brian Allen, Lamont Green, Tay Cody, Dexter Jackson, Derrick Gibson, Samari Rolle, etc. Just a nasty team. Won on the road at #21 Southern Cal, at #15 Clemson and at #5 UNC. Then we crushed Ohio State in the Sugar Bowl.
Who do you think was our best team outside of 1993, 1999 and 2013?
