I realize there's the PGSF for soccer talk, but I thought you guys might get a kick out of this video.

20,000 German fans from Cologne, Germany descended upon North London yesterday. It was the first time in ~25 years that this team qualified to play in a major European competition. Their fans were, needless to say, excited about their return.

Pretty incredible scene...



Kickoff of the match was delayed by an hour and five minutes due to fan safety concerns as several hundred of the FC Koln fans tried to storm the gates.

and only 3,000 tickets were available to them, I guess Arse fans sold a ton and the Germans were all over the stadium.

A bunch of loser Arsenal fans did sell their tickets...and scalpers sold some more...and a further few hundred Germans rushed the gates as well. It was a fiasco. Match started an hour late due to "fan safety concerns."

I know somebody who was there and he said it almost got ugly inside the stadiums with all the Germans in the Arsenal sections.

I still dont understand how the Europeans cant handle fans in football. They have to let opposing fans come and go from the stadium at different times and have the sections guarded by police. How is having a group of vocal supporters in an away section warranting of delaying the game? And this is true all across Europe not just an English thing. They wouldnt know what to do for a typical SEC game or say rivalry game like FSU UF.

Partially disagree.

If 20,000 FSU fans marched thru gainesville, in unison, singing and chanting, the hogtown police would freak the F out.
