Deep Purple
Cheap Trick
NWA
Chicago
Steve Miller Band

Notables who didn't make the cut:
Janet Jackson
The Cars
The Smiths
Yes

I can't believe Chicago and Deep Purple aren't already in there. I assume the movie gave NWA a much needed boost.

The Cars didn't make the cut? Find me a better debut album than theirs and I'll eat my hat.

Surprised Cheap Trick isn't already in as well.

I'm never sure what surprises me more with the Rock Hall - some of the bands that are not in, or some of those who are. I agree that The Cars should be there, and it's damn laughable that Chicago didn't get in many years ago. The original lineup, with their work up to Kath's death, is as strong as any rock group ever. Great mix of blues, jazz, and rock; three great singers, excellent keyboard work. Cetera's vastly underrated on the bass, and Kath is (was) simply a monster. I say this in here whenever they're brought up.
If you haven't ever seen/heard their show from Tanglewood, you should go to youtube & watch it. It's spectacular.

Yeah, the original CTA lineup was killer. I've always thought their induction was delayed due to the pablum they started producing around XIII. Some of that stuff was garbage.
Agree on the The Cars as well--I played the crap out of that album when it first came out.
B-52s and Dire Straits are two others I thought should be in it.

Wow! The Tanglewood show is what I'm listening to right now....are you spying on me?

NWA? More proof that the name of the HOF should be changed.

And maybe it's about time Motley Crue gets nominated. My 14 year old daughter's new favorite song is Same Old Situation.

Sorry, but there are plenty of other bands with stronger debut albums - Boston's first album I believe is the best selling debut ever, and regardless of sales it's a great record. I am partial to Zeppelin, so nothing ever tops their first album for me.

I agree the Cars should be in. I think every band anyone has listed so far belongs ahead of Cheap Trick.

Chicago is way over-due.

HUGE Dire Straits/Knoepfler fan - so they certainly get my vote.

Also agree they should seriously consider changing the name - I don't care for Hip-Hop/Rap so of course I don't think NWA should be there.....but if the name was changed to cover a more broad spectrum I would have no issue with them.

Apparently you have not a clue on how influential Cheap Trick was to a next generation of huge 90s bands.

I don't - I do know anything I ever heard from them (friend in high school was huge fan) did not impress me. I have heard 3 songs from them that are worth mentioning...

To each his own....
