In 1965 Fred Flowers enrolled at FSU and made history being the first African-American athlete put on a uniform for FSU as a member of the baseball team. He graduated from FSU in 1969.
In 2003, the Integration Statue was completed in the middle of campus near the student union featuring Flowers.
