A baby needs a ticket?

so after many years of season tickets this will be our first with our baby, I see it says children of all ages require a seat. Just wanted to confirm if that is really true so my baby we will be wearing like we do to baseball and basketball games needs a ticket for entry?been to serval mlb and nba games this year with him and hadn't experienced this at any major league stadium or arena yet.
